Hi, I know I won't be able to go back to a normal diet. I'm still going to cut out dairy as I swear I'm lactose intolerant or something. I'm going to stay away from processes/fatty/greasy/gassy foods. But could I eat fruit and veg a bit more as now I can only eat carrots.

Everyone is different but for me I only feel safe with bananas. If I eat vegetables they have to be well cooked.

I can, and do, eat anything/everything I fancy, there's nothing off limits.
My IBD nurse told me that when I'm in remission I needn't avoid any particular food, just to eat as normal, so I do.
Some foods make me a bit more windy than others...onions, sweet potato, sometimes broccoli sometimes not...but I still eat them.
Are you in remission Badtum, have you had any dietary advice? You may be surprised as to what current thinking is.

Like Bunty, I can and do eat everything! I agree that it might be a good idea to seek the advice of a dietitian. The test for lactose intolerance isn't too horrible - you drink some lactose and then they test breath samples at intervals over the next few hours. You might want to request it in case there is something else that is giving you trouble.

Since my surgery a month ago, after easing back into eating, I've been able to eat anything I want without issue.

When in remission I have been told to eat a normal diet. But I am in a smallish flare that doesn't seem to go away. At this point I am cutting out roughage. I am not lactose intolerant, so I keep my diary intake up. But we are all different. I would try different things and see what works, or doesn't work, for you.
