So what kind of pet would you really own if you had the choise of any one? I for one would do anything and hopefully one day seriously get to have a cheetah, so I am all about the big cat. I'd really like to see just what we all types of answers I get on this one!

I'm not into exotic pets but I love dogs and now my girlfriend has gotten me into horses. I absolutely love horses. I told my girlfriend that one day when we are married we are going to have a barn and take in abused horses and then give them to good homes. I will also keep a few of course.

i opted for monkey/chimpanzee because i think they are so human-like, so clever, and the babies are gorgeous - i'd love to hold one & give it it's feed bottle (can you tell my kids are growing up? lol)

but also, i would love to bond with an elephant, study him/her socialising in a herd.. they are more intelligent than i realised and show emotion in amazing ways.. oh i gotta post this, i just have to lol....

I would love to have any of the animals...well except for the tarantula for sure. I picked monkey/chimpanzee because they amaze me. They are so smart and so like us it is almost weird.

I already have the one's I'd want. We currently have 7snakes, 5leopard geckos, 1tarantula. Also have 3dogs. Other than that, I can't think of any others that I would want. Although, eventually we will have a couple more snakes.

none for me.

Some days I have enough crap of my own to clean up, I don't need another butt to wipe...lol

I'd probably own a zoo if I could haha

I left out alot of options, but at least I added the spider for those of you who like those *shudders*

me and my mom accually breed hairless rats they are very cute and if i could figure out how to get a pic under my name like you all have i would post one of them :)

Just remembered the critter I'd love to own:

Flying%20Foxbat2402.jpg

Saw these at the zoo. The Large Flying Fox. Things are awesome lookin'. They're massive fruit bats with up to a 6' wingspan.

6 feet omg! that is one giant bat!

a lot of people thing bats are gross but i guess i am just weird. i think theyre kinda cute little guys!
especially the really little ones that fold themselves up into a little ball and peep lol

At my gf's house I love watching the bats fly at night eating all the bugs that I absolutely hate. It's also fun to throw things near them so they fly around it several times and dive bomb it to the ground lol.

A lynx. They carry themselves as such intelligent kitties. But they also seem really badass and they have fuzzy ears. :)

Seriously, I would like to have an octopus too though. Those things are so cute. Cephalopods ftw.

I voted for marsupials because I have a weird obsession with opossums. I think they're cute.

My husband wants a skunk. For real.

So who's the weird one???

I always wanted a giraffe. I used to tell my mom I wanted to put one in the backyard so I could feed it and pet it's head from the balcony. :) I'd take just about any big cat though, especially tigers. Wolfs would be cool, kangaroos too, kaola bears, chimpanzees ... oh I give up. The list could be too long. I always wanted to work at the zoo ... can you tell? :D

I haven't voted either yet because I would vote "Kev" but I wanted clarification that that was an appropriate choice. I've always wanted to own a canadian.

MBH packs her bags and moves to Canada.

No, I'm not rented by the pound, and those of you who went to the pound looking for me wasted a trip.

No, my rate is determined just like LPG or LNG, so its more like per cubic metre. ;-)

i wanna PINGUIN their SWEET they waddle and have lil tuxes and everything. no no no i wanna PIGuin a pig pinguin mix! HECKS YEA! lol that would be epic tho!:D

I LOVE the big cats more than any other animals, but here I will say Orangutan as they are also gorgeous (in an ugly kinda way) and less likely to eat me.

Tho I must say that I find ownership of wild animals kinda distasteful and don't even like the zoo much - why do us humans think we're so great we can own everything?

I would want a monkey!! I do like many animals...... and this post reminded me of a news story when someone did have a large tiger in their apartment in NYC!

I thought the end was interesting what gave another clue besides the bite...I wouldnt want that to drip down in my apartment!!

I'm a reptile fan too. I have had quite a lot of herps, worked for a while as a reptile keeper at the Bronx Zoo and majored in Zoology at college. Love dogs, cats, birds and tropical fish too. Right now have four blue tongued skinks, two bull snakes, three dogs, a one-eyed cat a turtle and two rescue gerbils. The dogs and cats are all rescues.

My oldest son use to own around 12 boas (the biggest 2 were 8 foot and 6 and a half ft), 1 18" rattle snake, a croc about 2 ft long, a tarantula, 2 ,I think, cornsnakes and a scorpion. He use to work at a pet store that specialized in snakes and they had an 18 ft albino boa. The only snake that ever bit him was a rock python. Said it hurt like hell.

I've missed out on some rousing conversation here.

Yes, David, the House Hippo is a cool cat, although a quiet one who would rather be alone. Kind of an enigma. ;)

I'd take a baby penguin instead, but they reach adulthood in a month so it would be a short lived friendship.

That's what happens growing up in Soviet Canuckistan.

People's Republic of T-Dot, eh?

Go use some health care, why don't you??? :D

I think that's all too often what happens to many of these "pets", then they end up getting set loose someplace, or they're put down. Really better to leave them to live in the wild, IMO.

You nailed that one on the head, David (the animal part, not the anti-socialist, health care-hating part....just teasing!).
