I had fish for supper tonight at a restaurant, and before they even cleared my half eaten plate I was in the bathroom with severe diarrheah and severe abdominal pain, not once, but three times...and I had to get home ASAP to be near the bathroom.
I normally have severe diarrheah and abdominal pain but that immediate is something new..
Plus on top of that my bowel movements that are slightly firm are pencil thin... I assume this means there's inflammation??

Sorry to hear that :(. For me raw veggies are really bad along with milk( more than a little in tea) and whole grain/wheat. Also anything super high in fibre.

My only trigger food seems to be raw vegetables. Coffee used to be an issue but no longer is. For some reason, water causes pain and nausea, but I don't really think that's related - although I couldn't say for sure. Seafood is actually one of my safe foods.

Worst for me are any pepper or allium - onion, leeks, garlic, etc - or any cruciferous veggie like broccoli, cabbage, or cauliflower. I had one Brussels sprout a few months ago and was in agony. I really miss them.

Fish seems an unlikely food to cause a reaction. Perhaps anything you'd eaten would have triggered the diarrhoea. I'm not sure that a reaction could happen that quickly.

That's how it is for me anyway. Fibre worsens my symptoms, but the reaction's not immediate. Eating can trigger diarrhoea to start (at least it did before I got an ileostomy), regardless of what food I consume.

It sucks to be out with diarrhea. I was just now having an issue while walking the dog!:ymad:

Anyway, my trigger foods seem to be high fibre, but also wine, chocolate, especially dark. Usually fish is fine for me.

Good luck

I had fish and chips, and it may not have been what i was eating but the fact that I was eating as I've slowed down due to discomfort.. Not sure
what I do know is it sucked, bad.

For me, beef seems to be really bad. Iced tea and boxed mac n cheese are also hard on my tummy, Spicy foods are also bad :(

Fried foods for me are the only bad thing when i'm not in a major flare. When i have a bad flare, i have to eat a low fiber diet.

It may have been that it was fried.

Just what I was going to say. Fish on its own is pretty easy to digest. Fish in batter can be much harder - fatty foods in general (including the chips that you had with the fish) are more likely to cause a problem than fish which is usually classed as a protein (rather than fat) source.

I have found that occasionally I will eat and feel sick immediately after or even bf I'm finished eating and the first few times I tried to blame what it was that I was eating at that moment, but I began to realize that usually I was just eating something that was really stimulating digestion and what was causing me to be sick was my digestive system pushing something I had eaten much earlier through my inflamed guts. For me personally when that happens its usually something that I ate 24-36 hours earlier...I would venture to guess putting a load of fried fish down the hatch would have really gotten the whole system moving and something you had eaten much earlier met up with an unhappy section of your guts, especially if the fish was fried in oil that wasn't super fresh
