What is post op i&d of abscess supposed to feel like?

This was my first incision and drainage (no packing necessary on this one). Happened yesterday morning and today it feels like i kinda got kicked in the cooley really hard. Sitz baths sting the wound also. Is this all part of the process? How long should it hurt like this?

It is a little different each time and for each person. It can really be affected by how much scraping they had to do. I would count on a good week of discomfort. You may find relief from sitting on a heating pad.

I'm with sailor on the fact that it depends but generally it's uncomfortable to sit, a bit of blood, itching as the area heals. I was encouraged to do sitz baths but they stung. I lied down all the time with a heating pad under my butt.
