Hi everyone :yfaint:

I'm feeling a bit worse for wear at the moment.

I used to work at a bank and I found it so stressful I had to reduce my hours to part time as I kept flaring up, however I knew I could never support myself in the future working only part time.

Eventually I made the decision to leave and work full time in a school where you get more regular breaks and finish a little earlier, I have been working there since January, however in the recent months I have started to continually flare up and I'm sure it's due to work.

I want to work, but I want to be well. What jobs does everybody out there do that keeps them relatively flare free? I understand with crohns that you will get flare ups but I know my recent ones are work related and I want to be well and look after myself.

I'm feeling really down in the dumps, laying on the sofa with my hot water bottle, and I'm just dreading going into work tomorrow. Can anybody help? :sign0085:

Thanks everyone :ghug:

Well we had some similarities. I used to work in a bank for a decade and left that. Went to a school as a teacher and with the help of remicade and azathioprine have finally gotten well. I do enjoy teaching, so I believe that does help keep things under control.

I am a nurse - I actually find shift works helps me. When I am exhausted after a few early shifts I will have a day off or late shift rostered. However, I can't claim to be flare-free and I presume most careers have their element of stress. Good luck :)

Hi i have worked at a garden centre for 11 years, around the last 4/5 of which i had gotten the crohn's symptons starting.. very heavy work which didn't help my stomach believe me !.. not to mention an awfull boss who would have you work no matter how ill you were .. but after a resection things improved beyond measure , though work was hard n stressfull i got by, by changing my thought process, now i dont care what people think in work , they get what i can give without nearly killing myself n no more, my health is most important to me.. i have now just got a new job at another garden centre but doing a different a job, n with much more understanding bosses. best wishes to all ..
ps no flares since resection so far

I actually decided to go into business for myself. I am part of an amazing network marketing company. I can work when I want to. Most of my work is follow up with customers to see how they are liking their products, which is something I can do while in bed if necessary. I do home presentations which usually run about 3 hours or so, and I can usually sit down while doing it.

Thanks a lot for your advice everybody! I'm not normally so negative....honestly! Im feeling much better now and my flare up wasn't job related......it was dairy related! So thank goodness I can carry on with the job I love :) thank you everybody xxxxx
