Hi all

Just looking for some advise I have been taking AZA with caused many probs with me so they put on 6MP which caused the same probs. Currently im on Pred and just wondered what do you think they will try next??

Hi ormsklad,
I have tried Pentasa, Pred, Aza and 6MP. The first 1 did nothing, the pred was horrid and i flared really bad when i came off it and the last 2 I am allergic to. I m now on Infliximab/Remicade and looking at starting Methotrexate as well.
Hope you get sorted soon

Since you are already using drugs that treat moderate to severe disease the next step up is the biologics...Remicade, Humira, Cimzia. That is the general course of action that a GI would take.

I don't where your disease is or how it has presented so unless there is some other complication going on I don't think they would recommend surgery.

Dusty, mine is in the small bowel it was only found by doing the pillcam and an MRI. I have had budesonide which worked well, but now it doesnt so they have put me on pred.

I have only had 1 infusion so far. Having my second one tomorrow so hopefully I will feel even more benifits.
It has stopped the bleeding I was having since July, also I was going to the toilet 3/4 times at night and it has stopped that as well. I have been up and down the last few nights but I am 10 days late for my infusion due to a cough/cold.
I have no problems having the infusion. You will need to have blood tests and a chest x-ray before you will be able to have it to check for TB. The infusion itself is no problem. They hook you up to the drip and thats you for a few hours, you do need to stay for 2 hours after just to make sure you dont react.
I think of it a a mini holiday! Time to myself.
Let me know how you get on xxx
