I was wondering what supplements everyone takes, i've only been out of the hospital for a few days now, so i'm just following what my GI suggested, i was wondering if anyone has found any dosages or vitamins that work better than others at fighting malnutrition and fatigue.

I'm sure this can vary based on what medications you're taking, so it might be helpful to include that too.

Meds:
Apriso (time release Mesalazine aka Pentasa)
Mercaptopurine

Suppliments:
Mega Red Krill Oil (Omega's, i picked this up since it's a small pill and i take enough horse pills tyvm)
Oscal (Calcium + D, 50% DV of Each)
One-a-Day Mens (More Calcium, A, C, E, and Zinc and No Iron compared to regular One-a-Day)
B-12 Complex
and because it's Flu Season an extra 1000mg of C (my Total C intake from just these works out to be 1500mg, i can tell i'm taking too much because of the odor of my urine, but better to be safe than sorry)

This works out to be 10 pills, and i take them with breakfast (it takes me an entire glass of V8 just to get them down so i take them during breakfast)

I really don't know how well the B's are working, i'm very tired and need to take a nap during the day now, but that could be caused by me recovering from surgery rather than the crohn's, i'm not sure yet.

Hi there,

You have some good ones there. I would check up about the vitamin C though. I was told that it wasn;t a good idea for Crohns as it stimulates the immune system and ours is overactive. However, I am not entirely convinced of that either!

Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory that many people take as well as probiotics.

Hope the recovery goes well

Hey Paragraph....I'm now taking Mega Red because I can't swallow the big fish pills....hahaha I like them because they are small, but effective.

I take a gummy multivitamin and a gummy vitamin C from Target, and drink two ensure PLUS bottles a day. I don't know what helps though. The ensure are tasty and there are omega's and alot of vitamins in there, and enough fat to count as a small meal I think.
