I am having the first of my three surgeries to remove my colon and get a j-pouch on Nov 4th. I have been reading everything I can to prepare myself for the surgery. But I have not found anything that tells me what I should bring to the hospital with me. I am looking into stealth belts and other accessories. What are guys opinion on these? And what should I bring to the hospital with me?

Do they allow you to wear loose pants such as sweatpants after surgery? Or your own shirt? I hate hospital gowns a lot and I am hoping they let me wear my own clothes.

I don't see any reason why not. They just need to unhook your iv so you can switch clothes. I'd imagine for surgery you need the gown and after will be too weak but when you are ready it should be fine. I always change out of the gown.

Hi! I'm four weeks into recovery after a right hemicolectomy. I brought PJ's to the hospital, but I was too tired to put them on. The best thing I brought was my face cleaners. I use the Oil of Olay face wipes every night and having those to clean my face and periodically my body, during my hospital stay, was wonderful! Good luck with your surgery!
