Hi i was diagnosed with chrohns when i was 14. I had a section removed and have been lucky to be medicine free for 25 years. This year i declined and have lost alot of weight. Thus i have just started azothiprine and feel better. I believe my decline was due to not going o the gym like i did for fifteen years religiously. I have also started going to th gym and actually putting on weight and feeling much better (the improvement seemed as soon as i excercised and before i started azo)

However 3 days ago i had stomach ache all day and then really tarry black pooh. I the had some more normal stools but with spots of blood and slight blackness. I have to see my doctor on thursday. Today my stomach ached most the day but its now ok. The stools are now nearly normal and throughout i gave not had diariah. I am confused and my doctor advised me over the phone to carry on talking my azothioprine.

I understand black pooh means some bleeding higher up but i am very confused, anybody had this sort of experience?

What is thr usual course of action when this happens?

I don't recall blood, but did have the dark stools you describe. It was during a flare last year and got better with prednizone (all my symptoms did). I would try to limit the foods that tend to upset you. For me, eggs seem to be the best thing for my GI problems (cholesterol may not benefit, though). Exercising definitely helps, but I have trouble going to the gym when I have pain. Drinking water helps, too, as long as I don't do too much at once.

Your appointment is only 2 more days, you can tough it out.
