Hi,

I know the first thing we look at when deciding if we are flaring is our CRP level in a blood test. I know a good levels is low single digits, ie <4 but I don't know how high the scale goes.

I've just had a rating come back at 21, which I know is higher than my last test which was <8. I don't really know if this is really high, or just a little raised.

What sort of levels have other people seen in the past?

Each lab/Hospital has a different criteria, I would call 21 modestly raised. Mine has been sitting 20-35 ever since I got sick and this is the term used by several Drs in relations to me.

I have seen other members who have had CRP in the 100s!

The highest that I have had was 220, but I was in hospital at the time and very ill with serious post op complications.

In the past I've been in the 80s and was told that the IBD team wouldn't be worried unless it was over 100!

So, I wouldn't be overly worried about it, but be aware of how you're feeling and your symptoms and make sure you contact your gastro if you start to notice your symptoms worsening.

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. So often, I get given a result as a number, and I have no idea what it means!!

Last year I had a reading of 257 and this year 139.

Although my bloods don't seem to show anything until I'm in absolute agony! This year I had a normal reading 10 days before the reading of 139.
