Hi, i'm new to this forum but i'm so glad I found it!
I was diagnosed with CD in 2003 and had to have surgery back 2005. The doctor recommended that I take Pentasa and steriods but none of the symtoms seem to go away. So I been using Fish Oil, multivitamins, B-12, and zinc supplements. This seem to aleviate the symtoms for some years along with a low-fat diet. Just recently I had to go to back to the hospital because of mild flare-up but it was and still is very uncomfortable. These symtoms suck, sometime I break out with skin lension on my parts of my body or inside my mouth. Sometimes my anus hurts right after having a bowel movement. Most of the time i'm constantly running back to the bathroom especially after a meal. I'm so thankful that I have a found CD forum where I can connect with people from all walks of life are going through the same pain as me. I hope to learn a lot for other people experiences and share some of mine as well.
Thanks

Welcome Realdeal!

Thanks for sharing some of your story. I am glad that you have found some supplements that help with managing your symptoms for the most part. Another fairly common supplement that is recommended for people with Crohn's Disease is Vitamin D.

You may want to consider trying to taking psyllium husk to decrease the frequency of your bowel movements. Be careful if you start taking this to ensure your body reacts ok to the increase of fiber in your body and make sure you are taking in a good amount of water or other liquids if you are adding fiber to your diet.

Does the pain in your anus come due to the frequency of bowel movements you take each day, or do you think it is there due to a different factor?

To answer your question, I think it has a lot to do with what I eat when I have pain. I don't have it all the time. It comes and goes.

Hello Realdeal and welcome to the forum :bigwave: Have you been in any contact with your GI regarding the flare up and if so what have they said? Just wondering if perhaps it would be benificial to get some up to date tests done to actually check on whether there is any disease actitivity going on inside......

Hi realdeal and welcome :) That's quite interesting to me that your low fat diet helped alleviate symptoms. Would you be interested in elaborating on some of the specifics of the diet?

I'm glad you found us as well. I look forward to seeing you around the community!

All my best to you.

Thanks for the hospitality. I'll be glad to share some of my insight as well. First of all I drink a lot of water and try my best to stay away for fried food. I don't eat red meat or pork but I do eat chicken and fish (baked or sauted). I eat plenty of fruit and vegetables (minus corn). Every now and then I'll have a salad. I try my very best to stay away from sweets and refined sugar products.

I have an appointment coming up within the next week. Hopefully everything goes well.
Wish me luck!

Thanks
