I'm being sedated for a sigmoidoscopy and was told that I need a driver. I'm driving to my parent's house, my mom's watching the kids there, and my dad is driving me to the appointment, then back to their house.
When can I drive back home??
The appointment is at 8:30, so I'm planning on staying for lunch, or a nap on the couch if I need one.
Can I drive at 2:00? 4:00??
(I know it's easier to have them pick me up here - the kids like to play there.)

When I was sedated for a colonoscopy they said no driving for 24 hours and no signing any legal documents either. So I would probably see if someone could drive you home. How far is it from your house?

24 hours sounds good. You'll have a tendency toward hypnotization. In other words: You may be wide awake but staring at the road for a while may cause you to space out and ignore red lights and oncoming cars.

Rats! Not the answer I was hoping for.
I guess I'll leave my car there until the next day. Don't want to be hypnotized with my kids in the car.
Thanks guys.

I would suggest that you wait the 24 hours, but I did not. I waited a few hours and then drove home. Though I did not have my daughter in the car and my house was about 5 minutes away.

I would wait for sure. That day I thought I was with it...turns out I wasn't. I forgot whole conversations...like being in a daze. I slept a lot after though so I wasn't going to be driving anywhere.

I think that the severity of the after effects are down to the type and amount of sedative used. The further they go the longer it takes and the more sedative they need to use to keep you under/calm.

That said, I'm pretty drunk for a good few hours then drowsy for the rest of the day.

My test is Friday the 22nd. My dad is going to drop me off at home and then my parents are going to keep the kids for sleepover! Bonus!

But now my mom says that my dad should stay with me until my husband gets home from work. What a pain this all is. I say he stays for an hour and then goes back home. I'm just going to sleep anyways.

OOO! Post colonoscopy beers! On an empty stomach! That sounds goooood.
(I hate beer. I keep trying it, but hate it.)

Pen, if you age me, I get my tail in a knot. Hey - maybe if my tail was in a knot I wouldn't be running to the potty so much. Thanks for the idea, tie that sucker up.
I don't know what NoyB is.

The office called today to confirm, and I asked the lady how long my dad had to stay with me once I'm home. She said that they only want someone to take you inside and get you settled. I told my mom that, and she's finally off my back (not an easy feat).

MBH, when I was young and foolish, I was getting a colonoscopy every 6 months. I told the doc that I was taking a taxi home and would walk about a mile and a half, stop off at the local bar have a few beers and then walk home home. Now I make sure I have a ride. Good luck on your test.

Wow! I can't believe they let you get away with that. The nurses where I got mine done said that if I didn't have a ride they would reschedule. They had to have the person's name and checked them in when I checked in.

So, when can I drive - right?
You knew my plan, drop the kids off at my parent's house, dad drives me to the appointment, drives me back home, and leaves.
My husband comes home from work and I hear him call my parents and ask them where I am because my car isn't in the garage. I'M IN BED, YA' DING-DONG!!
He lost me in my own house. What a goofball....
At least YOU guys knew my plan.

He should have asked someone on here we could've told him where you were!
