When to worry

I had surgery a week ago to remove a squamous cell cancer. I was in the emergency room twice over the weekend . One time, it was betaine solution that I saw. The other time , it was a small amount of blood and they said it wasn't dangerous or infected. Tonight, I think I am seeing fresh blood but it is not sticky. How do I know when it is a bad thing?
