So I'm at a work conference, in the middle of no where, very cool conference but I'm in the middle of a horrible flair. I can't just sit in bed the entire time because I'm expected and need to be at certain sessions ect. not to TMI ya'll but I can't be away from bathroom for more than 20 mins and I'm in so much pain. Just stinks, cause I'm by all these important people in my field but I obviously am having a hard time faking health today.

Ick. Life will go on its just miserable.

:( Oh nooo i'm sorry you're having to deal with this...what a convenient time!! Are the meds not helping?!

I'm really sorry. I have been where you are and know that pain/discomfort at work well.

Hopefully the conference will be over soon and you can go rest. Do you take anything to help with the bathroom issues? For example when I am in a flare and know I will be traveling or going somewhere important I can take Immodium multi-symptom. My xanax also seems to help in calming my emergency flare situations a little bit.

Thanks for the support, I also take xanax when the cramping gets too bad. I currently have no narcotics (not the biggest fan anyway but I like having them for times like this), so I'm trying tylenol, which barely touches it. I've honestly never had luck with imodium because it increases my levels of cramping. I keep benedryl with me though so if it gets too bad I take 2 so I can at least get some rest.

Plus the hotel cheap toliet paper isn't helping the issue! Or the conference provided food, and oh yea we are at a resort at the top of a mountain- which is absolutly gorgeous, but I'm cut off from groc stores, pharmacies, ect.

Can you call your doctor to see what they suggest? What medications are you currently on, if you don't mind me asking...for maintenance?

I'm switching doctors right now cause I moved a year ago and the one I picked starts every appointment with "I don't know that much about IBD but..."

Anyways right now I'm on 80mg MTX weekly, I'm allergic to steroids and I've already done the Humira and Remicade thing. Pentasa never worked for me. Basically medication wise I'm at the end of the road.

 Whoa...that is not a very comforting phrase lol. CCFA might be another good place to find a GI doctor with at least some clinical interest in IBD. Or any academic/research center near you.

So Humira and Remicade stopped working? What about LDN? Or 6MP? Oh no, I hope you get some relief soon....I trust your new GI will put you back in remission and stay there. Tell your colon to stay there lol. :)

I would most likely be bothering the concierge to send someone to get what I need from the store.
It is so difficult to work with this crappy illness. I have been there too many times and it is worse when many people are around, long hours blow. Skipping meals made me dizzy and weak, still had to show up.

Hope it lets up fast for you.

Thanks for all the concern everyone, I got a little better this afternoon after a xanax and sneaking away into my room for a bit. Other biologics don't seem too feasible simply because of my reactions to Humira and Remicade- if I remember correctly there is an expectation that if you have problems with multiple biologics that others will turn out the same way.

I've got an over the counter stuff that I want with me (I DO NOT travel light), and I'm trying to limit how much I eat to just enough to have energy but not too much.

Mornings are usually the worst for me so hopefully tomorrow will be a little better.
