I was on regular Infliximab infusions some months ago then the hospital called and said they need me to have a blood test done but getting out is hard every 8 weeks as it is so I said I would wait until my next infusion during this time a mark appeared on my right ankle and then open up a wound so called the nurse out and began getting it treated it would look like it was going one minute and would get worse the next after a few months of not being able to get rid of it a swab was taken and appearntly It is two infections one of which is MRSA which as you can imagine I was not pleased to hear.

During the months this has been going on I have been going without my infusions and have been holding my own until recently when the Crohns has started to make things really difficult.

So I have decided to have the required blood test at home so hopefully I can get back to my infusions if the results are clear I used to have a blood phobia several years ago but managed to get it down to a minimum where it would not effect my treatment one of the measures used to make things as easy as possible was some cream (Ametop) that they used at the hospital when talking to the nurse and he said he would be able to do the blood test for me he mentioned a different cream (Emla) as it is really important that this goes without a any problems and I have only had experiences with Ametop could anyone tell me which one gives the stronger pain releif.

I'm sorry, I've never heard of either of these!!

Perhaps it is something we don't have here in the States.
