1. Can Crohn's/Colitis be seen if someone has just been eating broth and the like for a month before the Colonoscopy due to fear of eating?

2. Why would a CT scan show inflammation of the colon but not during colonoscopy?

3. A. If colonoscopy results show "due to not finishing prep solution, small or flat lesions might be missed", does that mean Crohn's/Colitis can be missed?

B. If the pictures of the colon are very dark, watery and brownish due to feces still being in there, could Crohn's/Colitis be missed?

4. What would cause skin tags to appear around the anal area since GI problems first started?

5. If someone eliminated all colon irritant foods and stopped having attacks, does that mean there is a possibility of having an IBD?

6. If colonoscopy results show "Erythema in the rectum compatible with proctitis (biopsy)", what does that mean?

7. Can Crohn's/Colitis cause neurological symptoms?

8. A. Does Crohn's/Colitis pain come in waves like severe gas pain and then slowly turns into a constant almost like your stomach is going to explode and you are screaming at the top of your lungs because it hurts so bad?

B. Does the pain ever wake you from your sleep?

9. Does having an IBD cause internal hemorrhoids?

My two cents worth. ;)

I don't think just eating broth would affect the outcome of the Colonoscopy.

Unfortunately it is not uncommon to have conflicting test results. Where on the CT scan was the inflammation and were they able to visualise that with the Colonoscopy?

3. A. If colonoscopy results show "due to not finishing prep solution, small or flat lesions might be missed", does that mean Crohn's/Colitis can be missed?

I would say yes.

B. If the pictures of the colon are very dark, watery and brownish due to feces still being in there, could Crohn's/Colitis be missed?

Again I would say yes.

4. What would cause skin tags to appear around the anal area since GI problems first started?

I think skin tags are a manifestation of inflammation, so if you are flaring it is not uncommon for people to develop skin tags.

5. If someone eliminated all colon irritant foods and stopped having attacks, does that mean there is a possibility of having an IBD?

I think it would be the opposite in most cases. Unless you had a very very mild case of IBD I don't think just changing your diet is going to stop a flare.

6. If colonoscopy results show "Erythema in the rectum compatible with proctitis (biopsy)", what does that mean?

To me that means inflammation (Erythema) in the rectum compatible with the last 6 inches of this area (proctitis is a term used to describe inflammation in the last part of the rectum). So the last 6 inches of your rectum is inflamed.

7. Can Crohn's/Colitis cause neurological symptoms?

Depending on what sort of neurological symptoms you mean, but yes it can cause some neurological symptoms.

8. A. Does Crohn's/Colitis pain come in waves like severe gas pain and then slowly turns into a constant almost like your stomach is going to explode and you are screaming at the top of your lungs because it hurts so bad?

Everyone experiences pain differently but I would imagine that there would be people on here that experience pain like that.

B. Does the pain ever wake you from your sleep?

I don't know if Roo's pain was exactly like yours but it was certainly severe and yes it did wake her from her sleep.

9. Does having an IBD cause internal hemorrhoids?

I would imagine the trauma associated with of IBD, whether it be inflammation of the area, diarrhoea or constipation would certainly cause internal haemorrhoids with some people.

Dusty. :)

For question #7, what do you mean by neurological symptoms? At any rate, the answer is yes - if you search for threads by Regular Joe, he's written quite a bit about this. And I know that at least a few of us, myself included, experience things like migraines. I'd never had migraines before until these GI symptoms started, but then I started getting migraines every month, complete with the freaky auras.

Yes, yes and yes, when I first started having my pains my daughter went running from the room and I heard her yell to her dad "daddy come quick mommys having a baby!". The pain was so horrid screaming was the only thing I could do to keep myself from going insane with it.

Oh and I also had to have several large skin tags and anal lesions removed from the anal area also just before the symptoms became extremely bad.

1. Can Crohn's/Colitis be seen if someone has just been eating broth and the like for a month before the Colonoscopy due to fear of eating?

yes, crohns can be seen even if you eat broth

2. Why would a CT scan show inflammation of the colon but not during colonoscopy?

Colonoscopy looks at the inside of the colon while CT looks at the entire system and can detect inflammation of the lining/thickness

3. A. If colonoscopy results show "due to not finishing prep solution, small or flat lesions might be missed", does that mean Crohn's/Colitis can be missed?

Typically the doctor can see Crohns even if prep was not optimal, BUT some areas can be missed

B. If the pictures of the colon are very dark, watery and brownish due to feces still being in there, could Crohn's/Colitis be missed?

4. What would cause skin tags to appear around the anal area since GI problems first started?

Anal tags are common in CD, typically accompanied with hemorrhoids and some times fistulas

5. If someone eliminated all colon irritant foods and stopped having attacks, does that mean there is a possibility of having an IBD?

Although food have an effect on CD, it typically will not eliminate the illness

6. If colonoscopy results show "Erythema in the rectum compatible with proctitis (biopsy)", what does that mean?

7. Can Crohn's/Colitis cause neurological symptoms?

Absolutely YES

8. A. Does Crohn's/Colitis pain come in waves like severe gas pain and then slowly turns into a constant almost like your stomach is going to explode and you are screaming at the top of your lungs because it hurts so bad?

Unfortunately, CD comes sometimes with severe pain that makes you want to scream

B. Does the pain ever wake you from your sleep?

YES

9. Does having an IBD cause internal hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are a typical occurrence with CD

I hope that helps

Thank you so much everyone. I asked these questions, some based on my already own experience and some, just trying to learn more about Crohn's.
