Hi all,

I have Crohn's and I am not much of a drinker, but I would like to start drinking red wine here and there. I feel like I need to live up to my French heritage ;) also we've all heard that a glass of red wine a day is healthy for you. What my question is, is how do others with Crohn's react to it? I understand that everyone has different triggers, but I am just curious because I know it is recommended those with Crohn's stay away from alcohol. However, does one glass here and there affect you?

I have a glass of wine once a year without any effect. You have to make sure that medicine you are on does not have a bad interaction with alcohol.

I just read that it is not good to take with Imuran, which I am on, as it can damage the liver. Thanks for mentioning that, I didn't even think about it which is strange cause usually I'm ok top of checking for drug interactions.

Everything in moderation.

A bit of vin rouge never causes me any problems. I think you need to be sensible and see how you feel.
