Hiya,

I have Crohns currently in reasonable remission. But last night i started to feel dizzy. This morning when i got out of bed, i nearly fell over. I'm really giddy and i'm still like it. Unfortunately, its happened at a time i can't speak to any of my doctors as its the weekend, so, has anyone else had this problem and if so what could it be?

Thanks

Hayley

Hi Hayley: Poor you! It could be virual -- labrynthitis, in which case a walk-in clinic can give you the Rx for the meds that you need to treat the condition. With lybrynthitis your vestibular system is disrupted. You would typically also vomit every time that you move your head (from the extreme dizziness), but this could be a starting point of investigation, anyway?
Hope you are soon on the mend, whatever the cause!!!

Hi Hayley,

You poor thing :( Dizziness is one of the worst feelings in the world. And part of the problem is, it could be due to a million things :(

Dizziness can be a potential side effect of your Pentasa but you've been on that awhile and I assume this is something new. It could be due to an infection as mentioned above or countless other issues, IBD related and not. If it was me and my symptoms got worse I'd personally head to the doctor as it's one of those feelings I have no desire to put up with and would want the issue remedied asap.

*hugs*

Thanks for your quick replies. I too thought Labrynthitis and yes i do want to be sick when i move my head. It's like ive had one too many Vodkas the night before!!! If i close my eyes, its worse and occasionally my ears ring.
Trouble is with an illness like crohns, its quite easy to worry about crohns being the main cause of everything that goes wrong lol.
Thanks David, i will certainly be off to the Doctors on monday and get to the bottom of it.

Hayley

I had extreme dizziness when I had the perforated bowel i'm afraid that was the one symptom that let me know I wasn't right. I hope thats not your case but go and get checked out :(

I've also had a viral ear infection that caused this but it'd be a good idea to get it checked. You could call nhs direct to be on the safe side! Out of hours doctors have always been surprisingly good to me...

Ps. Nice to see someone else from Bristol around :)

It could be something serious like mentioned above. It could also be something simple. Ear infection, or dehydration, or serious vitamin deficiency, or very low blood sugar.

Hope you feel better soon, and if you can get to a walk in clinic, or even emergency room, that would be a good thing. The sooner the better.

Like everyone else has said, it could be a lot of different things. I am going through a bout of horrid dizzy spells myself, but it is due to extremely low blood pressure and very high heart rates caused by dehydration. I've drank plenty of fluid, but my intestines are not absorbing it properly. Have you taken your bp recently and your hbpm? If it's the same as mine try drinking plenty of water and resting. Hope this helps! <3

Good chance it's your ear but like everybody already has said there are many possibilities. I had TERRIBLE dizzy spells before my abscess was diagnosed. If you ARE diagnosed with an abscess (although I hope you are not!!), insist on speaking with a colorectal surgeon before you let ANYBODY cut you. Don't let them tell you it's routine and don't let them tell you it's too urgent for a specialist consult!

As they said, it could be many things. Eat something (preferably with protein) and drink some of a sports drink. That will help in the case that it's dehydration or low blood sugar. If not, that will help rule them out when you do see your doc. If you can, you might hop on over to your local drug store and check your BP to see if it's low.

Hope you feel better soon! I am dealing with background dizziness all the time now and it's ****ing awful.
