wow Im not the only one living with Chrones

My name is Laura or MsLOLO. I am a artist here in Detroit. I recently had to go to the er because I had a flare up from my Chrones. Im only 29 and most ppl dnt even know what my dieses is. I had a question about my medicine 6mp and pregnancy and yahoo pulled up this site. I started reading some of the threads. and for the 1st time,I feel Im not alone. :thumright: I feel like I can get thru this knowing there are others who are going thru what I am. Esp a greedy person like me who loves food.lol Im going to try more discipline with my diet. I do not eat salads or any raw veggies. So most things that are healthy and good for me,I cant eat. Do any of you have suggestions of food this meat eater can still enjoy without stomach pain. thanks

Hiya Laura
and welcome

Glad you found us, lots of friends here for you, you're no longer alone!
Just my 2 pennies worth here, but giving up red meat 18 months ago was the best thing I've ever done for my Crohn's! I only eat chicken, turkey and fish now.
Yeah it's been hard, but the smell of a steak knocks me sick now!
lotsa luv

I can't believe this happened, but I have a co-worker who last tuesday was told he probably has Crohns. We had a big discussion about it at work yesterday. I suggested that he come on to the forum.

thanks guys

thx for all your warm welcomes to this forum. I had a moment when I read Ash said the smell of steak knocks her down. I just had to wipe my tears because I love steak and Im getting so frustrated with not being able to enjoy the foods I love. Im really going to need support and guidance because I want to be healthy. I guess if you all can do it, I can too...right. So glad I found this site.1 thing Im sure of is that Im not alone anymore. :)

I am being seen next thursday for diagnosis, and I'm frankly getting nervous...did your doc say you couldn't eat steak anymore?? I love steak, I hope I don't have to give it up!! I also love salads. I have no idea what the doc is gonna say, I just had a colonoscopy last wednesday. I am SCARED!!!!

dnt b scared

No my doc did not tell me I cant eat steak. Thank God because steak is one of my fav foods. They did tell me dnt eat so much processed meats. So I just watch how much meat I consume.Dont be scared.:confused2: You will be just fine. I cried when my doc told me because I didnt want to have it.But in life like always, I adjusted and got over it. I recently found this site and it makes me feel good to know others are going thru what I am. I am here if you wanna talk about it more. Good luck:kiss:

it is hard to give up the foods you love, but it is manageable. I have found that almost everything I eat is on my "dangerous foods" list the docs gave me in the hospital. BUT there are also a lot of "safe foods" that i love so i'm coping. I think the thing I'm most pissed about is they told me no bacon or sausage at least while I'm flaring and the whole time in the hospital i was so anxious to get out and have bacon and eggs and then they said no bacon i was like NOOOOO. i love bacon. but i find that i tolerate burgers, chicken, pork, turkey, and beef. Like everyone else said, you are not alone and if you ever need someone to talk to we are here. this place is a godsend for me. hope you start to feel better soon

Wow, reading these posts is so encouraging. I am so relieved to be diagnosed finally and on the 4 wks of prednisone, and will be starting Humira as soon as it comes in. Life will go on now. It was more torture having to await the outcome! Now that I know, I feel so much lighter! And the doc said I won't have any diet restrictions...thank God! You guys are a brave group , and soooo encouraging to a newbie like me.

u guys r the best

I am at work smiling ear to ear after reading both of your replys.:ylol: itsjen u give me more hope that I can cope with my diet. I have been doing okay, I just have to maintain the discipline to keep those dangerous foods away from my mouth, especially when Im flaring. and sfoster Im proud of you for taking your diagnois with pride and holding your head high. Im also a newbie to this forum but I want you all to feel free to reach out to me anytime. Yes life does go on. Enjoy your weekend guys!!!!
