Has anyone taken this with good results? Also curious if anyone has successfully gotten their insurance company to pay for it? Luckily my doctor's office was able to obtain enough samples for me to try it, otherwise it was about $600 out of pocket

I took a short course of it for a couple weeks. It certainly didn't seem to hurt anything, and I saw some modest improvement for a little while afterwards. Whether or not that improvement stuck around, I'm not sure -- I still have the occasional bad day, but who knows. Some people have mixed feelings on the use of antibiotics in Crohn's Disease, but from what I understand Xifaxan is less systemic than other antibiotics, in that it combats the bad bacteria (well, all bacteria) in the gut while not being absorbed into other parts of the body. Hopefully that makes sense. I did some reading up on it here and a few people have had some luck with it, and it's also used to clear up SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth, which can cause cramping and bloating). It certainly was fine for me, but I made sure to eat yogurt in order to replace the "good" bacteria. Hope this helps!
