Hello I'm new to this forum :) I am currently 16 years old and was diagnosed with crohn's disiese when I was 12, as a young child it did effect me greatly and as it is rare that young people get crohn's I would like to have the opinion of any other young people with crohn's. What is your story, how did you handle it as a child etc. I'm looking toward to your opinions and stories :)

Hey :)
I'm 17 and have only been diagnosed for just over a year - been a bit of a rollercoaster and not quite managed remission yet but still trying! I was diagnosed whilst in sixth form and to be honest, didn't handle it well at all. I really didn't want to be the different one who couldn't eat because of special diets and have to take tablets but the support of my family helped. I messed up my first year of A levels - was in and out of hospital between Feb and April so missed the teaching for my summer exams - but hoping that this year I'll be able to finish them and still go to uni :)
I think it's tough being young with this condition because it's not something you really want to discuss but then friends don't understand without information. I have lost a lot of friends to Crohns which hurts but I guess they can't have been true friends.

There's some other young people's stories and stuff in the Teen Forum on here too! :)
Hope you are doing well x
