Perianal abscess, anal fissures, and perianal fistula

Beth, why was the elemental hell? Purely because it was liquid or because it tasted horrible? I just read a scientific study that said elemental diets are the most effective way to induce remissions in severe flare ups.

Perianal abscess, anal fissures, and perianal fistula

So lets assume I do indeed have it. No abdominal pain, no 5 to 20 diarrheas a day, no blood, no anemia, no weakness. I would still need meds? Are you saying the meds now may decrease the risk of more severe flare ups later? As a prophylactic measure? Crohnshobo, your post was interesting. You...

Perianal abscess, anal fissures, and perianal fistula

Nyx, blood in stool and weight loss are very serious symptoms :) Did you faint from being anemic? Astra: Yes, most people with fistulas do not have CD and thankfully for you guys most people with CD never get a fistula - only 20% do. Check out my other response on my other post where you...

Perianal abscess, anal fissures, and perianal fistula

Introduced myself on the introduction board. Long story short, was diagnosed with perianal abscess, two anal fissures, and a perianal fistula 2 months ago. First CRS said before he operates on the fistula, he wants to rule out Crohns with a colonoscopy. I refused. Got 2nd opinion from one of the...

Hi JJ, That was a rapid diagnosis! Did you never have symptoms before 3 weeks ago? No diarrhea? No abdominal pain? Nothing?

I've never heard of blood in the stool being psychosomatic. Were you ever anemic in the last year? Ever have SED rate measured? B12 test? Hope you are ok.

Experience with reactions to Remicade infusions

Very scary. Even in ICU/ER setting with immediate assistance, people can die from anaphylaxis or anaphylactoid reaction. I always recommend to people to take any new medicines in a hospital.

    Fistula, abscess, fissures

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Shadycat: Perianal fistulas, while relatively rare (occurs at a rate of 12.5 per 100,000 individuals in the U.S.) are usually caused by bad luck or 'unknown etiology.' 80% to 90% of people who develop a perianal fistula do not have Crohns, UC, cancer...

Did you have colonoscopy under general anaesthetic?

Some people, especially physicians, get no sedation or pain med AT ALL. They want to go back to work right after the procedure so they refuse all sedation or anesthesia. Some do mild sedation and stay away and some do completely knocked out. Katie Couric's colleague has a live colonoscopy...

    Questionnaire for Krohn patients

They could be posting this on many forums to gather a database of emails of people who have IBD or Krohns (I like the new spelling too.) If they gather thousands, they can eventually sell the list to people who market products to KRONES (like that?) patients.

Can you get an abscess in a butt cheek?

Kasper, are you sure its not a deeper abscess?

Can you have Crohn's and not bleed?

Mayflower, You should get other tests that may be indicative of Crohns. Ask for c-reactive protein, CBC, and B12 test.

    Fistula, abscess, fissures

New to the forum, this is my first post. A few months back, I discovered a perianal abscess. After a couple months, it formed into a perianal fistula which now seeps pus on a continual basis. Was also diagnosed with two fissures (ignored the small amount of bright red blood on toilet paper.)...
