Can you have Crohn's and not bleed?

Yes of course! I have had Crohn's and never bleed. I only did in Feb because of irritation of a gastro bug. So your anwers is YES!:)

Yes, some people with Crohn's never experience any rectal bleeding, whilst some people are plagued by it! Although rectal bleeding/bloody D is listed as Crohn's symptom, even if you never get either doesn't mean you don't have Crohn's. If that makes sense!

Sometimes bright red blood can come from harmless (but uncomfortable) hemorrhoids but usually with Crohn's I believe it's higher up and the blood appears darker.

Oh, well. I thought I might be off the hook. :) Not yet diagnosed. Normal colonoscopy but suspect bloodwork. My follow-up with GI is Tuesday, and I'm really nervous now! Trying not to obsess about it, but with Crohn's possibly hanging over my head, it's hard not to...

I originally was DX ulcerative colitis and had lots and lots of blood. I have a j-pouch now, and was re-DX as Crohn's a year ago. Haven't seen a drop of blood in this current flare, and my last scope pics were BAD.

Good luck with your DX - Amy

I've had a some long flares and ended up in the hospital multiple times but I have never bled. I'm more prone to non-stop vomiting and pain that makes me pass out. Weird disease. Affects everyone differently.

Let us know how your appt. goes. Good luck.

been diagnosed with CC (suspected) for a yr ..been bleeding for 3-4yrs. Doc said theres no point in trying to stop the bleed as it wasnt enough. also they reckon its more crohns although i have rectum swelling

I have Crohn's and have never had any bleeding. I also thought that because I did not bleed or have diarrhea that it was not Crohn's. No such luck!!

Mayflower,

You should get other tests that may be indicative of Crohns.
Ask for c-reactive protein, CBC, and B12 test.

My GI doc ordered that Prometheus serology that is supposed to test for IBD, and I got a letter saying it was "weakly positive" for Crohn's. My follow-up appointment is tomorrow and so I'm assuming he'll explain what the heck that means. But is that stuff that you're talking about included in the Prometheus tests or is this separate bloodwork?

Thanks!

So I had my follow-up with my GI doc this morning. I had a colonoscopy almost a month ago, which didn't show any signs of Crohn's in my colon, or in the part of the small intestine that connects (is that the ilieum?).
My bloodwork (Prometheus IBD Serology), however, was positive for Crohn's which he said can mean one of three things: 1) I have it, and he just has yet to find it, 2) I'm genetically predisposed to have Crohn's and it's waiting to be triggered, or 3) I don't have it at all and the test is wrong. It's supposed to be accurate around 90-ish percent.
Anyway, so he is ordering a capsule endoscopy to scope out my small intestines. I'm not sure yet when it'll be done b/c he's going out of town until around the first of May and they have to work it out with the insurance bums. So even if I have it done in the next week I still have to wait for him to get back into town before I get the results.
And as far as "weakly positive" goes, he didn't even address that, only that it was positive. I guess positive is positive is positive.
So, that's that, guess I'll just play the waiting game and try not to stress too much. :ybatty:
My name is Katie, by the way.

Hi
I have Heard of Crones But Never really found out exactly what happends..?
Someone told my daughter they think her symptoms are Crones??

She can not eat lettuce for the last few months.

Also Does this affect your kidney area??
Sometimes she says her Kidney area in her lower back hurts after she goes to the bathroom...??
She is 19.
Spaghetti sauce Bothers her. it causes nasty indigestion that sometimes makes her sick.
cooked carrots
and lettuce just runs righ through her. carrots are not as bad as lettuce though

I see some of you have Colostomy type?? Is this part of Crones?????????

would things have bothered her Before as a kid?
Or does symptoms start Later in age??

is this genetic??
anything else you can tell me about it?

Anyone willing to Answer these Questions? I would greatly Appreciate it
thank you
