    Thoughts on negative Prometheus

No granulomas. No EIM. He was eating gluten when he has flattened villi but was negative for celiac. went off gluten and they healed. already been to Boston and Cincinnati. Does your son have positive Prometheus? Celiac positive? Looks like genetic testing is for early onset but will...

    Thoughts on negative Prometheus

He also showed flattened villi on first scope (like celiac) which has healed months later. Is that normal? He was gluten free but I'm not sure how that works. Good idea on the generic testing. He is seen at Emory and dr has mentioned. Why did you do it? Any ideas on why a child who clearly...

    Thoughts on negative Prometheus

For the brain trust: Now that I've finally accepted that ibd is going to be a constant companion in our life, I'm trying to learn and to sort out results of two tests that confuse me. My som was originally a confusing case. One hospital said from biopsies it was some IBD not sure what...

    Starting elemental diet

Kat - I'm so glad I read this. Hats off to you for doing this. Please celebrate each day you move ahead. My son started EEN reluctantly and my husband decided to try it with him in the beginning to encourage him. I will be completely honest. Both of them look back on that first week as pure...

    Long term use of Omeprazole

Thank you all for your replies. This is helpful information. Honesty I'm embarrassed I don't remember much. I don't think he has reflux. I think - think - dr said there is some use of it, maybe off label, to address inflammation in deodeum (but is that really from reflux?) Don't quote me on...

    Long term use of Omeprazole

Does anyone have personal experience with using Omeprazole long term? My son has been using it for over a year. I hate to tinker with the regime when things seems to be working but read that Omeprazole is most often a short term approach.

    Crohns- 12 year old boy

Hi there. I hate that you had to join us here, but it is a very supportive and knowledgeable group. My son is the one who is using scd. I really can't say what put him in remission. He started steroids in the hospital and he improved within 24 hours (had been in hospital for a week, tube...

    Prayer and Spiritual Support

I too pray for every one of you each day. I don't have ibd, but my som does. I'm in awe that you all can suffer with this disease and still have such deep concern for others. I hope good things come back to all of you. Sandy- hope you are feeling better today on your birthday!!!

    New to all of this...

I'm so sorry she has been through so much. Having the diagnosis and plans for addressing it are a step in the right direction. I'm hoping she hits revision quickly.

What was your child's diet like before being diagnosed with Crohn's?

Hmmm. Before diagnosis my son gravitated towards a low res diet, picky, really no sauces, fights to make him have fruits and vegetables. He is on scd and boosts now, but if given a choice I know he would choose the low res foods again. Makes me wonder too how long the signs were there.

Just realized it has been 7.5 years since diagnosis!

I hope tomorrow comes fast and Drs have some new options tomorrow.

I missed notifications too. Ron, a day late but I pray for your health, that dr has called back with what you need, and that your tasks are accomplished or well underway.

On Being Mother to a Medically Complicated Child

Oh, my husband and I not only use all our alone time together to talk about crohn's, but now most of our texts and emails have this theme. Tonight he called me into the pantry to share a weight update in private and to suggest some foods we can slip some butter into. We are pathetic. Other kids...

Interesting article about possible new treatments on the horizon

I've been told numerous times the goal is zero imflammatiom which I guess is histologcal. Let's just assume goal is no ulcers and no symptoms. Do we know what the risk is of walking around with inflammation? What portion of people who think they are fine, never thought of ibd, would show...

Interesting article about possible new treatments on the horizon

Ty for sharing! I came across someone recently who works as a researcher for a European pharma company in a gi/nutrition division. I told her my son had crohns and her face lit up, saying in a year to a few years there are some great things coming down pike. We were separated then but I will see...
