    Questions about small bowel surgery

I've had Crohn's since I was 16, a little over 20 years. I've known I was going to need surgery for a few years and was slated to get it in June when work slows down a little. My Crohn's isn't active right now, so the surgery was to remove scarred intestine from a previous surgery. But, the...

    Questions about small bowel surgery

I teach trombone lessons. So, you're right, you will be out longer than me. I have. 4 year old son, and even he alone was more than I could handle when I got home from the hospital. A big factor is going to be whether or not they can do your surgery laparoscopically. Mine was supposed to be...

    Questions about small bowel surgery

Tomorrow marks 3 weeks since my resection. I have been working half time for about a week. If I can offer any advice, it would be to take everything as easy as you can. Keep your expectations realistic. I've struggled with this and it still helps me to hear other people tell me the same...

    Help me, please!

Hi. College was a tough time for me and Crohn's disease. During that time, I discovered thr Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It helped with my Crohn's like nothing else ever did. Now 20 years later, I don't use the diet. However, it taught me a lot about what I can eat to help stay healthy...

    Waiting to feel normal

I think you're into something there. In addition to being older, I have a job, a wife, and a young son to worry about, too. Some days, I walk a lot and get a few things done around the house. Other days, I barely have the energy to get off the couch. The surgery was a cut into my old scar...

    Waiting to feel normal

I had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove scar tissue at my anastomosis. The surgeon removed 4 inches of small bowel. I am recovering at a steady pace. But, I am so tired all the time. I can't wait to feel normal again.

    Probiotics after Antibiotics?

Hi Rose, I'm finishing a round of antibiotics today. Usually, I take florastor once in the morning and once before bed. I remember getting extra gas when I started, but that went away after a week or so. When I started antibiotics a week ago, I got bad D. So, I tried 2 florastor in the...

    Entocort Mental Symptoms?

When I was a teen, I was on a lot of prednisone and had mood swings, anger, moon face, acne, etc. I've been on Entocort for 6 months and have had no side effects.

    Probiotics after Antibiotics?

I take Florastor. It worked wonders for me after my last course of antibiotics. It's way cheaper to buy on Amazon than it is to buy at Walgreens. I'm on antibiotics again, so I've doubled my dose of Florastor and it has helped keep the big d at a minimum.

    Colonoscopy

The sedation worked great for me. You'll need your sense of humor on Tuesday when you are doing the prep. And good toilet paper. On prep days, I always find myself thinking I should buy a better toilet seat.

How many ppl out there have gone without medication? Mild vs Severe? Relationships?

I don't like taking medicines and dealing with the occasional side effects. But, I like that the medications provide me days/weeks/months of feeling healthy so I can give my best to the people I know and love. I went for years without medication when I was in my 20's. Although I never had any...

New Humira Side Effect (for me)

He doesn't think the Humira caused the infection. He thinks that being immune suppressed from Humira is accelerating the condition. The cause of the onset is still unknown - he asked about insect bites or scratches. But, my week had been pretty uneventful up to that point. Sigh. Thanks for...

    Power went off overnight...

I had a similar experience - My refrigerator was left open over night. I called Abvie and they said it was fine. My GI tells me that the worst that can happen is that the dose is ineffective after being at room temp too long.

New Humira Side Effect (for me)

Hi everyone! Long post here - wondering if anyone has ever had a similar experience. This week has been a weird and scary one for me. On Thursday, I noticed a few lumps between my legs and torso - swollen lymph nodes. Because they hurt, I called the 1-800 Humira number to check with the...

    New to forum

Thanks for all the welcoming notes. It turned out that I saw my doctor much sooner. The night of my first post, I was admitted to the hospital. The doctors are leaning towards another resection. Then, because of this, my insurance company will have to approve Remicaide. Hopefully!
