Andrea; I'm so, so sorry to hear this news. Heartbreaking. You are such a wonderful person, and I hope this C-word business gets cleared out, and fast! I wish you didn't have to go through this; I wish there was something I could do for you from over here. Stay strong. :rosette1:

    Yet another pred taper question...

Yikes, 20 to 10 is a big drop, too!! No kidding, you must feel horrible! Maybe go back up to 15 for this week, and then drop to 10 next week? When you get to 10, then go to 7.5 the next week, then 5, then 2.5... (cut a 5mg pill in half). Call your GP to be sure, and make sure you have...

    Yet another pred taper question...

Yeah, I definitely would not go from 10mg to nothing. Myself, I found even dropping from 10 to 5 was too much - tired, sore, symptoms returning... I tapered by 2.5 mg per week, like archie up there. Good luck!

How well does Humira work for you?

I've been on Humira, every 2 weeks, for about 18 months, and remission for about 15 months!! (It took about 3 months for the Humira to kick in while I was weaning off pred). For the first 8 months of the Humira, I was on weekly Methotrexate, but it made me feel tired and nauseous, so my doc...

    Spoke too soon :(

Awww, sorry to hear you're feeling awful, Jen. Same thing happens to me if I have more than 2 or 3 glasses of wine. I miss being able to get silly with a few drinks! Usually takes a few days to get over it - instead of a regular hangover that is gone within a day. :P Drink lots of water...

Do you take naps? Please answer!

I love naps! I get one in whenever I can. Even with a full night's sleep, I run out of energy mid-afternoon. I used to eat a snack to get a boost of energy, but a nap usually gives me the rest I need, without the calories... :)

    Astra's daughter in the hospital..

Joan - so sorry to hear about your daughter's illness. Hope all goes well. She's a lucky girl to have a mom like you, we're all thinking about you.

    Joining you sooner than anticipated.

Hey vonfunk, that's sucky that they pushed up the surgery date... but... the sooner it's done, the sooner you can heal! You'll be a few days ahead of what you would have been. Have fun until then, and be sure to come back and post all about it! All the best to you, and I'll be thinking...

Help, please! I am in constant fear of fainting!

Hi Pierre, I hope you are feeling better! I would agree with what others have said above, try tapering by 1mg a week... I had to bump up my dose a few times before I realised that once I get to 15mg a week, I need to taper by 1mg per week.

    Pill box

Cat - I found something similar at a dollar store, that was meant for holding beads, and came with 6 compartments, so I bought two to add a seventh. Try looking at craft stores, too! :)

Humira side effect or am I sick?

I caught 4 colds this past winter - more than I ever have before. So far so good for the spring, though... :) It very well could be a cold. Do you have a fever? Keep hydrated and get lots of rest. Call a doctor if you develop a fever. Now that you're on Humira, be sure to wash your hands...

    IV Potassium.....is that like oooowwwww???

Oh boy, I remember when I was first admitted to hospital, and they moved me from the ER to a regular ward. In the transport, my IV line must have come disconnected or blocked or something, because when they hooked it back up and started the potassium, my arm burned SO BAD. I called the nurse...

    Always seek a second opinion

Hi Jennifer, and welcome. Sorry to hear of your ordeal! It's true, there can be a long wait to see a specialist, but in a case where you are passing out, passing blood, and in a lot of pain, you should definitely go to the ER. That's how I was diagnosed, I presented to the ER with pain...

    Me

Hi Spaceman, and welcome! Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well lately... I've had trouble with urgency and cramping, and waking up at night to go to the bathroom, I know how miserable it can be. Have you talked to your doc about treatment for this flare up? Sounds like you need...

    Best strains for Crohn's?

Hi Kristy, and welcome! I enjoy sativas as well, particularly Jack Herer. I find it gives me relief from nausea, without the 'couchlock' you speak of. I can still function. I will use indica-heavy strains if it is late at night and I'm having trouble sleeping. I'm sure everyone has their...
