How long for Humira to start working

Humira took 3 months to kick in for me.

I could knock someone out right about now

Entocort is a lot more expensive than Prednisone. Glad to hear it worked out for you, but for future reference, a month supply of pred would probably only run you $20.

I could knock someone out right about now

Pred is really cheap... and it works! Maybe it is time to start taking them?

    Jobs

...I'm sure you can figure out what I do, by my username... I'm lucky, where I've worked since being diagnosed has been OK with me missing some time, and leaving early for doctor appointments. They know that if I call in sick, I'm really sick.

2nd dose did not go well

Hi Mandy - glad to hear you had your friend for support - I just wanted to say, you really don't have to be afraid of the syringes. I actually prefer them. They are thinner than the needles in the pens. And, this coming from me - someone who would pass out at the sight of blood or needles...

    Wondering about...

Hi! I don't have any advice or personal experience with this particular procedure, but I just wanted to say Hello - I'm a Manitoba crohnie, too! What hospital are you looking at having your procedure done at? I have experience with both St. B and HSC, and I'm sure they will do what's best for...

New to Humira and sick from it

I'm surprised, too; Humira took 3 months to kick in for me. Why are you taking antibiotics for a cold?

    Mercaptopurine

How long have you been on it, ShirleyB? I was on 6MP for a few weeks, the side effects were too bothersome so I had to discontinue it.

What is safe as an Analgesic

No Advil, no aspirin, no NSAID's (such as Aleve or Naproxen)... Tylenol is definitely OK.

    Moonface

You probably won't have the moonface too bad, if at all... 25 mg is a pretty low dose. I got the moonface when I was on 40-60mg of pred, and as I weaned down it went away... Good luck!

    CT enterography

Hmmm, I don't know what the deal with the NG tube is - I've had 3 Ct scans and only ever had to drink the stuff.

French frog with 25 years Crohn's experience

Hi Pierre! Welcome! Sorry to hear of the bad times you have had - and yes, I think dropping to 30mg of pred from 40 was too much too soon - I've only ever tapered by 5mg a week, and even then, when I get to 15mg I go by 2.5mg/week. Have you tried any other treatments, such as Imuran, 6-MP, or...

pwndkake - Nice w/ the REM. We have a lot of similar tastes, I always check this thread when I see that you've posted! :) I agree, Collapse Into Now was a bit disappointing, but I did love the collab between REM and Peaches. ...I think I'll listen to it right now!

On Humira and wondering about moving to a different province.

Slade - I talked to someone at Progress/Humira today. Are you enrolled with their program? Definitely give them a call, they will assign a rep to your case, and make sure you make the move without missing any doses!! Their # is 1-866-848-6472. First, though, you will need to ask your current...

    Taper off prednisone

At one time, I was on 60mg of pred, I tapered by 5mg/week, until i got got to 15 mg. Then I tapered by 2.5mg/week. Man, it felt like it took forever to wean off! I find that once I get below 20mg/week, I get really tired and some symptoms return. It's pretty much a trial and error kind of...
