new to Humira and sick from it

Hi Friends,
I just started Humira 4 days ago. After 2 years of pain, nausea, arthritis, eye problems, etc I was free of it all in about 12 hours! I cried with joy... nothing has really helped me so dramatically so far.

And THEN... I got sick again. It came on quick as a sore throat that has moved quickly into my sinuses. Then the fatigue came, which was pretty overwhelming. My DR put me on a round of antibiotics but I think the cold is getting worse despite the meds.

My question: Is this what Humira is like? I was so happy to have some relief from the Crohns but a constant, severe sinus infection and fatigue isnt going to work either. I got really depressed yesterday and am just hoping for some feedback from those of you that have been through this before. Thanks so much!

Nope that's not what Humira is like. I'm surprised you say you were free of so many symptoms in 12 hours, it's good but not that miraculous. As to the cold/sinus, you could be getting a rare allergic reaction to it, or one of the other ingredients. Or it could have re-awakened a latent infection. Or it could just be coincidence that you picked up a virus.
Did the doc do any blood tests, are you running a temperature?

Believe me, no one is more surprised than me at the difference the drug made in such a short amount of time. Prednisone has worked fast, but methotrexate literally took 3 months to make me feel better. So I fully expected humira to be slow acting, too- but that was not the case.

No blood tests, no fever.

I'm surprised, too; Humira took 3 months to kick in for me.

Why are you taking antibiotics for a cold?

Humira

My wife started Humira two days ago and wants to end it all (no joke )been hospitalised plenty of times with crohns and she says this is worse
Had infliximab and sent her blind !so no more of that. Then had Colon removed.then gallbladder, then transverse colon where they accidentally cut the main artery in her laft leg and was in ITu for four days and 11 pints of blood.so to say this is the worst she has felt is saying something.
Deb wants me to ring the surgeon on tues when back at work and ask what he can do.Thats not easy though as only 500mm of intestine left.Says he might use small intestine with a trick or two ?lost me now
Dont know what to say for the best about Humira, please help x
