    Ingredients in Biologics

I was just curious to know what some of the ingredients were since I am on Remicade. So, I did some research and I was really surprised and somewhat concerned after reading some of the inactive ingredients. One ingredient was polysorbate 80 which from what I've read can make gut inflammation...

    Remicade dosage

I'm pretty sure the standard dosage is 5mg/kg. I understand how some people may have loose stools and occasional pain, but there is a distinct pattern that I have noticed since March. By the 6th week, my stools are not shaped as well and are slightly more urgent. Then they increase in frequency...

    Remicade dosage

Lisa- I think my doctor is a bit conservative when it comes to meds. He didn't seem too concerned last time when my symptoms were becoming worse around week 6 and did not suggest moving my infusions to every 6 weeks. Jo-mom- I'm still waiting to hear back from the nurse's office. 3.7 just...

    Remicade dosage

Ok, so I got ahold of the doctor and from the previous infusion, my remicade level was at 3.7. My doctor thinks anything above 3 is adequate but from what I've researched, that sounds kind of low. I'm still waiting to hear back if they are going to order more blood tests and if they are going to...

    Remicade dosage

Jo-mom, I'm going to call my doctor on Monday and let him know everything. Also, I'm going to ask what my levels were. Thanks again!

    Remicade dosage

Hi Jo-mom and thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, I wasn't told what my levels of Remicade were. He just told me that they were adequate and that he was satisfied. I'm guessing that I should call him and let him know what's going on. He's probably going to want to check my inflammatory markers...

    Remicade dosage

Hey everybody, I hope all you guys are doing well. A brief history of my experience with Remicade. I originally started last August with the three loading doses at 0,2, and 6 weeks, and every 8 weeks for maintenance. I am currently on the standard dosage. I have been doing really well on it. I...

    Tests

When I was flaring, I would get it done as much as every 1-2 months. Since I'm in remission, my doctor only asks if I could get it done once every 6 months.

    Worried

If the results all come back positive, then it could be a sign of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. However, you cannot completely rule out Crohn's without a colonoscopy or an MRI.

    Remicade, Constipation, and other Problems?

Hi and thank you for your response. I was about to take something for the constipation, but I gave it another 2 days and everything went back to normal. It just seemed strange since this was the first time this has happened since being on Remicade. I did ask my doctor if he changed the dosage...

Why Don't GI Doctors Take The Role Of Diet Seriously?

The biggest reason doctors prescribe medications is that diet most of the time does not induce remission for patients. I would say that diet is the second most important thing when it comes to maintaining IBD with medication being most important. Personally, I find that I can eat anything...

    Keeping Immunosuppressant along with Humira?

I am not on humira, but I am on Remicade and was on 6mp. My doctor decided to do this combo for about 6 months and then we stopped the 6mp. I didn't notice any changes and everything has been great since. I have heard that an immunosuppressant along with a biologic can enhance your response and...

    Confused about blood test results

My doctor didn't specifically give me a number for my levels of Remicade just only that my levels were adequate. I did however receive another phone call from him this morning saying that they didn't get the other results such as my inflammatory markers and CRP levels. Go figure. :ybatty:

    Confused about blood test results

So today I got my results back from my blood test a few weeks ago. When I got this blood test, it was two days before my Remicade infusion. My doctor and I were suspecting that my levels of Remicade were starting to get low around week 6 since that is when some of my symptoms start to reappear...

    Remicade, Constipation, and other Problems?

Let me get to the scoop of things here. I have been on Remicade since August last year. I have overall been doing awesome on it. I have also noticed several patterns since the last three infusions. The first two weeks, my stools are very nice and normal. I typically go in the morning, and I have...

    Prednisone and Bone Loss

If you can handle dairy products, it would be great to have some as part of your diet. Just because you have Crohn's doesn't mean you can't handle dairy. Everyone is different. I totally agree with the exercise. Try to do either some running or walking for your legs, and weight lifting for...

    My long term prednisone experience

Steriods are extremely dangerous in the long term. Low bone mass, adrenal insufficency, weight gain, heart problems, increased blood pressure to name a few. Do you really want to be suffering all these possible side effects in the future? There are A LOT better and safer drugs out there that can...

    Prednisone Taper 2.5

I would not change your taper schedule unless your doctor told you to do so.

Too fast of a pred taper

Yeah, a six day taper is way too fast. That's probably why you flared again. Ask your doctor about trying over and tapering slower this time. If you don't flare, then everything's good, but if you do flare again, it would probably be time to switch medications. Also, getting scoped is not a bad...
