    Perianal Crohn’s Disease

Hello, a very well written post that explains treatments and meds. Not everyone affected by fistulas and long term discomfort is a medical expert. After my partial anal prolapse and a second operation for a fistula in my anus as well as chronic haemorrhoids, I was advised to stick to a high...

What is YOUR weather like today??

Hello, wishing you strength and peace. My older sister died in tragic circumstances as a young woman and I still miss her forty years later.

What is YOUR weather like today??

Hello, it's 4°c and showery. The sky is the colour of a plain white sheet of paper due to cloud cover. It's Thursday and the leaf blowers are here again in the close opposite. Petrol fumes, dust and an hour of pointless activity. The litter is dumped on the street and verges but leaves are given...

Senolytics reduce gut inflammation in mice

Try explaining that to a GP in a busy practice in London. You get 10 minutes after a 2 hour wait and told to buy Windeeze for flatulence for £5.00 a packet. 💩

What is YOUR weather like today??

Hello, it's 6°c in London and raining today. My leg is aching from yesterday's walk down Crystal Palace Hill after my emergency appointment for toothache which felt like being jabbed in the jaw with a sharp knitting needle. I need a root canal and my dentist talks despondently about waiting...

Good luck with the procedure. Horses for courses, each to their own, it's a free country and all the usual sayings. :geek:

    Pandemic Jokes.

There is a queue forming outside the Gates of St Peter. One lady asks "Is this where I queue for toilet rolls ?" "No, dear" the bus driver answers, this is where you get your wings as a trainee angel. I drove my bus come rain or shine so I was sent for". "Oh, I see, well I'm a nurse in A&E and...

    ... because 2020 ...

What bad luck catching Covid so early in the pandemic but you now have antibodies which is a good thing. The rest of us who are clinically vulnerable and live alone are battling through as best we can. Boredom is a biggy and can lead to all sorts of mischief. Spending too much online, drinking...

    ... because 2020 ...

Visualisation is a useful tool in coping with anxiety, panic or inertia. I like to visualise my problems as characters from a play and watch them filing past. They are not part of me, I can let them float by. Try it.

What is YOUR weather like today??

Thick fog last night in London and freezing cold. Like a Charles Dickens film. Watched Oliver Twist in black and white and laughing at the derisory benefit I am supposed to live on. I may start busking and telling jokes as a new "senior" job. Bah Humbug.

    Help! Missed a dose.

Hello, you're very lucky to have an IBD Team, your symptoms were recognised and managed. A lot of treatments, procedures and non emergency ops have been postponed due to the risk of catching Covid 19 in hospital. It might be best to get vaccinated and immunity first if you are clinically vulnerable.

    Doctor, doctor jokes.

A lady goes to see her doctor during the pandemic for a review of her medications. She notices something odd. Instead of a desk and computer, the doctor has installed a fruit machine. "There are shortages these days, so to make it a fair system, you will have to pull the lever and get three...

    Weight gain

Hello, I take steroid inhalers for asthma and wonder whether these have given me my hounddog face with droopy jowls. I guess at my age, unless I have a facelift, I'm stuck with them. Actually, my weight has shot up and I don't seem to care. I know I should. It's January so I will start cutting...

Restless leg or something else!?! Need some help!

Hello, you don't say whether your leg kicks at night when in bed or during the day. Involuntary leg movements are normal just before going to sleep. Do you have cramp when your toes suddenly curl and cause pain for a few minutes? Cramp in your calves which affects people after jogging or running...

    IBS/CD possiblity suspected and colonoscopy

Hello, a colonoscopy is no more traumatising than a filling. No big deal and no pain. The worst part is sitting on the loo for hours beforehand and drinking a laxative. You will probably feel tired so best to have someone with you afterwards or plan ahead with extra shopping and toiletries.

    Doctor, doctor ! jokes

A lady walks into the doctor's practice during the pandemic. "Please stand 2 metres away and do not sit. Our toilets are for staff only. I will fetch your urine sample." she is told at the reception desk. Half an hour later, the poor lady is still waiting and there is a puddle on the floor. The...

What is YOUR weather like today??

Hello, it's -1°c in London. Barbecues are as popular here as they are in Australia except gardens are much smaller and the smoke has made my flat smell of charcoal. No good for my lungs or my sanity. There is little fire safety common sense in my road with neighbours piling up huge piles of...

    Lasik eye surgery

Hello, I too have eyesight problems, very short-sighted, -7 and astigmatism. I 've worn contact lenses and now glasses as I found acuity wasn't great with lenses anymore and also more costly and fiddly. I have glasses for long distance and for reading. Let's face it, lazer surgery is about...
