    Adding additional immunosupressant to biologics

Have your doctors told you that biologics work better when used with methotrexate, 6pm etc. or is the primary reason to suggest this to avoid developing antibodies? My son's doctor wants him to add methotrexate to Stelara hoping it will reduce inflammation in his rectum. The rest of his scope...

    Suppository Coverage and Outcomes

Hi Everyone, After 12 years of great insurance coverage, we have had two big issues lately. Anthem Blue Cross denied coverage for hydrocortisone suppositiories saying this is a medication they just won't cover. We are out $850 there. Now they won't cover mesalamine suppositories 1,000mg...

    7mm semi-sessile polyp in 20 year old

Thanks for sharing that Mountaineer01. Do you have Crohn's disease? I am assuming you do since you are on this forum but wanted to confirm. If so, do they do the scopes more for your polyps or just to monitor Crohn's? They want to do a follow up scope in 1 year with my son and said given his...

    7mm semi-sessile polyp in 20 year old

Thanks. He emailed the doc about oral v injection so we will see what they say. Thanks for your input - it will be nice when they calm down a bit!

    Methotrexate or colostomy?

Interesting - can you share the diet? Also is your remission clinical or determined by scope or FCP, blood testing? Thanks!

Polyp in 20 year old - crohns x 7 years

Thanks, Sean has only had crohns in his large intestine for 4 years and we saw this now. So glad his doc has been doing them to truly know how effective his meds are! He only had CD in last 2 inches of TI the first 3 years. Only symptom was growth failure on dx. Crohns escalated to colon his...

Polyp in 20 year old - crohns x 7 years

Maya, how often does your daughter have scopes now that she is older and being maintained? For his type of polyp, they would recommend every 3-5 years in the general population but will be doing more often right now anyway for him.

Polyp in 20 year old - crohns x 7 years

I know, that polyp has really freaked me out even though the NP and doctor were not so concerned and think it is may have nothing to do with Crohns....I am not so sure. The polyp was in an area of his colon with no inflammation and normal muscosa but there was inflammation there in the past.

Polyp in 20 year old - crohns x 7 years

Thanks for the feedback. Right now, I am not concerned about absorption because his scope looked really good except a very small patch of mild inflammation in ascending colon and moderate inflammation in rectum and he is also on Stelara. When he was just on MTX years ago, we did see it not...

18 year old just approved for Stelara

I see this thread again and wish he would have stayed on MTX since he has had a lot of inflammation which got better increasing Stelara dosing but still want him in MTX now since inflammation remains in anus and there is some mild stenosis/scarring there that they want to get under control! He...

    Methotrexate or colostomy?

How are you doing Tuff? I just wanted to ditto someone who mentioned also increading the dose frequency of Stelara and adding MTX. It seems many on Stelara with CD need to increase the dose frequency.

Finally approved for Stelara every 4 weeks

My son improved moving to every 4 weeks. I have a feeling that someday, the prescribing dose for many that are younger will be 4 weeks....it seems a lot of people need to move to that with Crohns. Good luck and update us on how this change works! My son saw a lot of improvement but still...

    Stellar stability at room temp

Are all of you taking Stelara with MTX? If so, is it oral or injectable. My son was escalated from 8 weeks to 4 and scope showed a lot of improvement but still active inflammation in rectum so they want to add MTX injection and short term pred enema until MTX kicks in. He would prefer oral...

    Switching from Entocort to Uceris

Scipio is exactly correct. My son had great results on Uceris and not on Entocort because his disease has moved from on in the ileum to the entire colon with rectum most involved. His fecal calprotectin didn't change at all on Entecord and went down to 21 after 6 weeks on Uceris! He didn't...

    Uceris for Maintenance

I was wondering if anyone has been on Uceris for maintenance. My son did an 8 week course in August/September and his FCP was 21 - lowest it has ever been. After reading below, our question is would he be able to take Uceris in combo with Stelara and not MTX injections. He would do MTX if he...

Polyp in 20 year old - crohns x 7 years

Spoke to GI NP yesterday and this is the outcome: 1. Polyp was a sessile serrated adenoma - this is pre-cancerous and in the general population would warrant a follow up scope in 3-5 years. She was not too concerned about the polyp and said they felt it was likely not due to Crohns but I am...

    Oral versus Injectable MTX

Hi Everyone, My 20 year old son (dx at age 13) just had a scope. He is improved with Stelara every 4 weeks but they are concerned with moderate active inflammation remaining in the rectum and mild scarring (stenosis) in anus. They want him to start on suppositories and add in MTX injectable...
