    Bad flare, what next

I got the results of the MRI scan a week after the test. No active inflammation or crohn's, but a large cyst in the pelvis, and I should follow up with gynecology. Woo-hoo. In the meantime, BMs are not still back to normal. The doc included a note that if diarrhea continues, I can take...

    Bad flare, what next

I have an autoimmune condition that causes my esophagus to stricture. The dysphagia is what made me go in the first time, maybe 17-18 years ago. They did an upper GI and a colonoscopy at the same time. At the time, the condition in my throat was unheard of. The doc who did the procedures...

    Bad flare, what next

Yes, it showed a stricture in the terminal ileum. That was 5 years ago. Doc was able to stretch via colonoscopy. I had a CT and a HIDA scan 2.5 years ago. That time my gallbladder was causing problems and they did a laproscopic cholecystectomy. So it's not my gallbladder this time. I was...

    Bad flare, what next

I have a number of other chronic illnesses, fibromyalgia among them. Brain fog is worse for me if I don't eat. My biggest migraine trigger is usually dehydration. But I avoid taking the migraine meds because I take SSRIs. I try to stay hydrated and I have alarms set to remind me to drink...

    Bad flare, what next

They took 4-5 vials of blood yesterday. They're checking med levels and antibodies for the inflectra in addition to liver chems, CBC, some nutrient levels, etc. I got most of the results already and the only things out of range were my calcium level, which is just slightly low, my carbon...

    Bad flare, what next

I've been on infliximab/inflectra for 7ish years? Maybe more? The pain and diarrhea gave me a break yesterday so I decided the flare was done. Except then this morning it started up again.

    Bad flare, what next

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought. I'll check in with the nurses when I get my infusion. If the symptoms keep up until then, maybe I'll follow up with the gastro sooner. I hate feeling like a hypochondriac. That's just life with chronic stuff.

    Bad flare, what next

Well, stool panel was negative. No parasites or infections causing the symptoms. The doctor noted on the lab results that if the symptoms continue after the infusion, he may want an MRI. I've been on the same biologic for years. As I understand it, biologics are systemic. I didn't think it...

    Bad flare, what next

I have one scheduled in August, because I made it a whole 5 years since my last one. Although I feel like the prep wouldn't take more than an hour right now. Most of my previous problems have been in the small bowel. An MRE would be miserable right now. Ugh. Thanks for replying!

    Bad flare, what next

I've been pretty lucky to have avoided any serious complications, and previous flares were mostly were brief. This one is different. Very typical for crohn's, just not for me. 10+ bowel movements per day, yellow bile and mucus, pain, chills. Barrel of laughs. I sent the GI a message 4 days...

Exercise causing me to flare-like symptoms...help!

I have iron infusions every other year or so. I don't tolerate oral iron very well. The infusions help a lot with my energy level and they work fast. I don't exercise the same way you do. Prednisone packed a lot of weight on me, I work full-time, and I also have fibromyalgia. So if I push...

Has anyone been through their 40s with IBD and a uterus?

That sounds rough, I'm sorry. Multiple health issues are such a pain. I saw the gyno a year ago. They checked for fibroids, didn't find any. She thought I was too young for an ablation to be effective. I don't have enough trouble for a hysterectomy to be an option. She suggested an IUD, but...

Has anyone been through their 40s with IBD and a uterus?

This sucks. I won't go into gory details, but wow. This sucks, and I want to unsubscribe from crohns, and anemia, and the monthly murder scene. So on and so forth. I've lost at least 12 lbs in the last 2 months without trying, I've got abdominal pain hitting a 6 on my pain scale pretty much...

    Flaring, woo-hoo

The clinic called today. I have 5 iron infusions scheduled over the next 2 weeks. In the past it was always just two. So maybe they're splitting doses in hopes that the body has a better chance to absorb it? If I had to pay for 5 separate infusions I would not be pleased, but I hit my...

    Flaring, woo-hoo

I asked the doc about my iron levels before they knocked out Thursday. He ordered iron studies and they grabbed the labs before I left. My hemoglobin is 11.3, not terrible. But my iron saturation is 8. My ferritin is 9. Both flagged low on the report. I'm waiting to hear from the clinic about...

    Flaring, woo-hoo

That sucks, I'm sorry. A few years ago the need hit while I was having my hair colored. 🤦‍♀️ The diarrhea has eased, but my labs showed my hemoglobin is under 12 and my iron stores are low. Which isn't great when you're a woman with a uterus. I'm so tired. I have an upper GI procedure...

    Flaring, woo-hoo

I am feeling better, thank you. Although things went from rapid fire to not moving at all, so I'm taking miralax to try and get some balance the two extremes. And my joints still hurt. I have my regular infusion next week. Hopefully that helps.

    Flaring, woo-hoo

I'm really sorry your son deals with that. I don't think the fibromyalgia was a bad dx, necessarily. But I'm tired of doctors and medications. I haven't been to the rheumatologist in a few years. The last time I was there I got a lecture about how fibromyalgia is real and I need to do Tai...

    Flaring, woo-hoo

Flare ups suck. I'm halfway through my inflectra cycle, they checked my antibodies and medication level at my last infusion and they were fine. And yet, here we are. I might have triggered it by trying to be a productive member of society. We painted the living room after years of talking...

Does anyone else start to feel awful the week before an infusion?

Thank you I'm pretty sure you're the one who told me about sero-negative spondyloarthritis? I'll have to find a rheumatologist who believes in it. The one I've seen before gets hung up on the fibro and tells me to do tai chi and water therapy. I live in Minnesota, so water therapy isn't easy...
