"Scientists discover promising new lead in Crohn’s disease"

I don't think the researchers are anywhere near a medication. It requires more research to confirm this finding. Once they have confirmed, hopefully they will work on a medication. It is a new finding but a medication could be years away. There is another thread which I had posted in which a...

"Scientists discover promising new lead in Crohn’s disease"

First they have to do a study with a wider sample size. Then they have to find a medication which works which will require quite a number of clinical trials. And third - I am sure, any medication which works will keep a healthy balance of PD-L2 instead of suppressing it to a dangerous low level...

https://www.qimrberghofer.edu.au/media-releases/scientists-discover-promising-new-lead-in-crohns-disease/ Interesting study though the sample size was not big. But if it is valid across a wider sample then it could possibly open up new avenues of treatment. Let us hope that they are able to do...

Antibiotic Use Associated with Increased Risk of IBD

Thanks for your response and sending the link. I think extensive use of antibiotics is very likely the cause. In my case also, whenever I have had antibiotics in the last few years due to a throat infection, it has caused diaherria. And after taking oral probiotics, it has gotten better...

Antibiotic Use Associated with Increased Risk of IBD

Hi @Scipio hope you are doing well. Has there been a study which compares the gut microbiome of people with Crohn's vs gut microbiome of people without? Any differences between the two can give useful insights and potential new treatments.

Antibiotic Use Associated with Increased Risk of IBD

I have suspected it myself that antibiotic use can lead to gut bacteria imbalance and can cause Crohn's disease. It kills off the good bacteria along with the bad bacteria. But my suspicion is not the same as evidence. It is a good study. If this is true then probiotic treatment to restore the...

Receptor on Gut Cells is Also Present on Immune Response Cells

I wish that the company carries human trials sooner than that. They have done trials in mice already. Does anyone have a contact in this company and find out more about their plans? It will be great to keep an eye on it.
