What do you think of this prednisone dose?

Definitely no moon face with that course of pred. My son is in the middle of doing a course of pred that is similar. He is doing 40 mg (9 days), 30 mg (5 days), 20 mg (5 days) and hold at 10 mg for a while (how long is yet to be determined). This course of pred he is doing for some Crohn's...

    Any other kids with arthritis/enthesitis?

Update: It took 9 days on 40 mg of pred but he finally can put his full weight on his foot. We have started a rather quick taper so we will see what happens. The sweaty/clammy/flushed/low grade fever stuff has stopped while on the pred. He has, however, been battling some extreme abdominal...

    Chicken pox vaccine and reactions

My kids had the vaccine years ago as toddlers. Neither of them had a reaction to it. Can you put off getting the vaccine for a week or so to make sure that any possible reaction doesn't coincide with the graduation?

    Imuran and Infliximab together ????

Sorry to hear this. I hope the infliximab works wonders and he feels great on it. :hang:

    Is Remicade Helping?

This sounds very familiar! We have the same thing going on here minus the Remicade (my son is on Azathioprine and Sulfasalazine). We have CRP and fecal calprotectin repeatedly come back normal but the abdominal pain has never completely gone away, and at the moment it is completely...

CT scans and cancer risk in children

As Tess said, here in Canada, the CT scans are more readily available. MRI wait lists are LONG. We could demand a MRI but we would still have to wait in line. I went to a talk a while back where a GI presented some info on a new low-dose CT scanning technique that produced images just as...

    Sister's 10 year old boy

Kids are so funny. I think he deserves some crutches. :) Although I'll warn you the allure of crutches wears off fast. :ybatty:

    Any other kids with arthritis/enthesitis?

Day 5 of pred and walking is getting easier. Gotta love/hate that pred.

    *supposed* remission but many symptoms

I too had to take a break on the whole logging of symptoms a while back. It was making me massively obsessed and depressed. After months of logging all food in take and symptoms I found NO correlation between food and symptoms. I also found that docs were not so interested in my notes, really...

    Any other kids with arthritis/enthesitis?

With everything else your son is having to put up with I certainly hope his heel pain goes away quickly. If it persists I would get him seen by a Rheumatologist. My son gets mild relief from putting ice on his heel, soaking his foot in a warm bath and on Monday the physiotherapist showed me...

    Imuran and Infliximab together ????

Hi Jame's Mum, Sorry to hear about everything your son has had to endure. I do not have any experience with Imuran and Infliximab given together but I do know that at the large Children's Hospital we go to they have many kids on that combo of drugs. While the combo does carry with it some...

    Any other kids with arthritis/enthesitis?

I feel the same way. It definitely helps me to know that we are not alone. Mallory's Mum I've re-read some of your past posts and I think that we might have the same kid. My son often gets loads of abdominal pain with no other signs of inflammation except for the enthesitis and an overall...

What is your child's favorite comfort food?

Peanut butter sandwich, bagels with cream cheese and strawberry yogurt. My favorite easy on the gut dinner for him is grilled salmon with rice and well steamed carrots.
