1-piece vs 2-piece ; filtered vs. unfiltered, HELP

Hi Emily, I use a 2 piece but use the coloplast sensura click. I originally used a dansac nova 1 piece bag and hated it, it leaked a lot and just didn't feel comfortable. Since I started using the sensura click 2 piece i've had no big leaks and it gave me the confidence to pretty much do...

    Lump on stoma.

Thanls for getting back to me, I went to see my stoma nurse and she said it is a granuloma which i guess is similar to a keloid. They've put some silver nitrate on it and I have to go back for more until it goes and if it doesn't go they said it may need to be removed surgically but it isn't...

    Lump on stoma.

Hi Guys, Just hoping i can get a quick bit of advice. I am planning on trying to get to my stoma clinic later this week but in the mean time I though id see if anyone has had similar experiences here. Basically this morning I noticed a bit of a lump (well 2 , one a lot smaller than the other)...

Need Advice for Waterproofing Colostomy Bag

I have an ileo but I go swimming quite often and also don't change after a shower. I use strips of opsite flexifix tape around the edge of the flange and it really works wonders. completely waterproof and keeps everything stuck down for ages even after a swim.

    Scuba diving with a bag?

I have been snorkelling loads whilst on holiday with my ileo. I also go swimming regularly. I've never been scuba diving but I know of people who have. I'd imagine the only issue may be having a bit of "room" under the wet suit. I put strips of opsite flexifix tape around the edge's of my flange...

Stoma 'belly bands' where do you get yours?

Like Grotbags I use the comfizz ones. The ones with the silicon strip are a lot better, I wear them every day so have to get a new one every few months but they are good value for money at around £10 each. you can also get shallow/deeper ones depending on your preference

    Mouldable rings

I use "salts" mouldable seals. I have tried others but didn't like them as much. The salts ones are brilliant and you can get different sizes but I just use the small ones. I can get 4 days easily before it starts to break down. can go further although I don't like going past 4 days.

Do you wake up if your stoma bag needs emptying at night?

I wake up atleast once if not twice a night to empty, I think it's just become habit. After I first had my stoma i would sometimes set an alarm to wake me up as i do have a high output and it would be ready to burst if i didn't wake up.

    Showering

I have too much of an active stoma ( and a white bathroom...) to be risking showering with it off so i've never tried it. Generally speaking i changed my bag every 3-4 days so most days when i shower wear a waistband which helps keep everything stuck down and dryish. I'll echo the comments about...

    Very watery, green output

Whenever I've had something like that it's been a bug which has sent my ileo crazy literally filling the bag with watery green output every 20 minutes. I would get to the docs or hosp if it continues as dehydration is a real threat. like I say I had a similar issue with a bug called crypto...

    Leaks at night

Just like nogutsnoglory I found that once I moved onto a 2 piece I never get leaks in the night anymore, If I do get any sort of leak it's because I haven't got up in the night to empty and have let it get to full with air to the point it's like a balloon, so it pulls away. I use the coloplast...

    Stealth Belt

Thanks for the responses. I wear a 2 piece so getting it sideways wouldn't be a massive issue but I have quite a hight output so I'm not sure I'd want to have it sideways for long periods at a time. I'm currently waiting for some high waisted swimming shorts to turn up so if they turn out to be...

    Stealth Belt

I'm looking into maybe getting one of these although I look a little pricey. Does anyone on here have any experiences with them? I currently use comfizz waistbands which are generally brilliant under my clothing for keeping everything tight etc but when I go on holiday the waistbands are a bit...

    Help - going swimming?

Sorry I meant to say I get rolls of it, The ones I get are 1 metre by 10cm's I think, so when I cut strips of it it's perfect. nogutsnoglory, I know what you mean about it pulling the base plate of if you try and take the tagaderm/opsite off, It is very sticky stuff, But I actually put the...

    Help - going swimming?

Hi gers, I use something called Opsite flexifix, It's basically the same as tagaderm but just cheaper, it comes in strips that you can cut how you want, I always use 4 strips in regardless of swimming or not to secure my baseplate and it works wonders , especially when I go swimming. When I do...

    Watery ileostomy output

I find usually that my output goes very watery and higher than usual if I have a bug of some sort. Infact just before Christmas I was in hospital on a drip for a week because my stoma was constantly spurting out water due to a nasty bug. Best thing to do is to keep you're fluids and salt...

    Ostomy guard

I use the same guard as Hainman when playing football just for peace of mind, It is bulky but serves it's purpose well.

    The stealth belt

I nearly bought one but with having an ileostomy I got a bit concerned as it would seem the bag has to go sideways which might make things difficult, I just use a comfizz waistband which is really good, keeps everything nice and tight and hidden away nicely and they are a lot cheaper. Use it for...

Ileostomy: new product for concealing below clothes

2th fairy, I use a product called opsite flexifix, it is pretty much the same as tagaderm but I think it's a hell of a lot cheaper, It comes in rolls that you can cut to size, I use it in strips around my flange to waterproof and help with security and it works wonders, maybe you could have a...

    Resuming work with stoma

I went back to work part time about 10 months ago and had similar worrys but everything upto now has been fine. I keep some spare clothes in my boot just incase, and also take a bag into work with me which has spare supplies. I also make sure I go to the toilet every 90 minutes so the bag...
