I'm with you there about giving my lunch away but then maybe we are jaded adults and need to be taught some humility? Sometimes it is good to let rip though..... ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ for Devynn

    Bullying

Hi Samantha and Devynn I am really late to this and I am so sorry that this has happened. As I was reading the thread the air was very blue in my house and the cushion is falling apart! Once again, your gorgeous girl just shines through - she is amazing. Her courage to stand up for herself...

Blood tests - are they necessary?

I would, because from one week to another my liver went haywire from being absolutely fine. I know it is different here in the UK, but they generally suggest weekly full blood count, liver function tests for the first 4 weeks and then fortnightly or monthly.

How long do side effects from Mercaptopurine last?

The bloods may take 24 hours to come back - I would contact them tomorrow. If he is still in pain, stop taking the 6MP until you and he have seen your specialist GI doctor. Does he have one by the way? If he gets a temperature of 38 or more or starts throwing up then I would go to A&E. Take...

    Pancreatitis on Imuran

Sorry to hear that Francis. Glad that you caught it before it got too bad as some people need to be hospitalised. I was on Aza/Imuran but had to come off it due to it affecting my liver. Last Friday I started 6MP and after 3 days suffered severe side effects and my GI told me to stop...

How long do side effects from Mercaptopurine last?

Hello You must speak to your doctor and let him know what is happening. Does your husband have a temperature? I was only on it for 3 days and had to come off it due to severe side effects. If you can't speak to your doctor maybe miss one dose and see how your husband is after that. I started...

Hi Guys My side effects were temp of 38, unexpected bruising, severe headaches and a very stiff neck. These are almost identical to what I suffered after 3 weeks of Aza and that also affected my liver which then took 6 weeks to normalise. I was taking 25mg twice a day and had no nausea. I...

Well it looks like I am intolerant of 6MP as well as Aza/Imuran. Had really horrible side effects over the weekend similar to the ones I had with Aza. Onwards and upwards to try another med - probably methotrexate.

    Mercaptopurine started to work?

Thanks Bigtruck. I am due to start this evening but on the bottle it says to take at least 1 hour after dinner and not with any milk products for 2 hours either side of taking the 6MP

    Mercaptopurine started to work?

Bigtruck What were your side effects (if any) when you first started 6MP and had you taken Aza before taking 6MP?

I have just rec'd my 6MP and was told to take it at least 60 mins AFTER food and to avoid milk 2 hours either side of taking it. Also I have been told to split my dose - half in the morning and half in the evening. Bang goes my morning cuppa then!

Hi Josh My doc said to split it half in the morning and half in the evening as this may help with the nausea (in his view). When I eventually get it (don't ask!) I will be taking it in the morning with breaking and in the evening with dinner. I found that when I took the Aza in the evening...

    Spouses

I totally agree with Scottsma - at this time try not to think too much about the future - just take each day as it comes and appreciate the good things even the really small things like someone smiling at you or thanking you. Do you have a song/piece of music/poem/passage from a book that...

I agree with you albertasweetie. Like you I seem to get all the side effects. I was allergic to Pentasa and Asacol and now Aza. Hopefully I'll find a drug that works soon. ๐Ÿ˜‹
