Looking for a better drink for upcoming scope

Vegan, I use mainly Pedialyte. Yes, it is expensive, but pray tell me one thing about Crohn's that is not expensive. I use Pedialyte for electrolyte replacement. Tomato juice is a good source of potassium with some magnesium. I drink a lot of that. Coconut water and tap water I drink for...

    Dumbbells for better vein visibly?

Vegan, I was losing electrolytes and fluid faster than I could take them in. It started as a stomach virus and ended with 30 bowel movements or more a day. I have short bowel syndrome, though no ostomy and have always had to watch out for stomach viruses and such. I usually end up taking...

    Dumbbells for better vein visibly?

I have been hospitalized for the better part of the last 2 months. Dehydration and electrolyte loss nearly killed my kidneys. Due to the potassium burning out my IV's I've begun requesting that a pik line be installed upon hospital admission. Takes all of 15 minutes. No more hour long poke...

Pen or Syringe what's your preference?

I prefer the syringe. Since I have been giving myself B-12 injections for 30 years I am used to needles. Humira needle is much smaller gauge than that used for B-12. Miles

    Heparin

Examine your hospital bill and the reason for heparin as standard practice becomes obvious. Just saying. Miles

    Humira injection with syringe

Gave myself first injection by syringe this morning. Needle guage is quite small and since the shot is subcutaneous the needle is very short. No more pens for me. Miles

    Heparin

I refuse both. Will only take heparin if I cannot get out of the bed. Socks? Never. Miles

    Humira injection with syringe

I am switching from the auto pen to the syringe for my weekly Humira injections. I currently give myself B12 injections. Is the needle depth of the Humira injection similar to the needle depth of the B12? Thanks for your help. Miles

    Dreams DO come true

Jessi, Thanks for your post and words of encouragement. I wish you well in your remission- however you achieve it- and hope your result longterm is better than you can dream of. Thank you for moderating this site. During my many years of remission, I took no drugs EVER! Hard to believe...

What's your theory on how you got Crohn's Disease?

I contracted CD my first year of college (age 19). 1/ Had wisdom teeth removed. 2. Infection ensued in gums 3. Prescribed heavy antibiotics by dentist 4. Popped Darvon for pain. (Darvon has been deemed unsafe by FDA.) 5. Taking heavy course load in college and stressed to max. How many...

    Gattex? -- Help!!

My GI is recommending Gattex. I have Short Bowel and now a Crohn's flare. I am currently on Humira and wonder if Gattex is worth the trouble and expense. Any Gattex users out there who can advise? I would appreciate your experiences with Gattex. Thanks, Miles

    Dreams DO come true

Hello friends! Glad to be a member here. I am 63 years old and have "been married" to CD for 45 years. At that time there were 2 treatments-- Prednisone and surgery. I went the prednisone route for 3 years until fistulas, strictures, and abscesses forced surgeries (eventually 9). I...

Looking for Info on Humira and Other Questions

I'm glad to hear of your success with Humira. May it continue forever. This is my first experiment with meds again after 32 years. Quite a weird feeling. How long did it take your Humira shots to kick in? I wonder if there is a correlation between length of bowel one has left and the time...

Looking for Info on Humira and Other Questions

Thanks, Ocean. They started the first 4 injections with the pen. I'll be using syringe at home for the remainder. Believe it or not, I have only taken B-12 in the 32 years past. There are many on this site who would like to have 32 years of a quiet bowel. I have short bowel syndrome and...
