    Diverticulosis diet tips

So I have been trying to add some fiber to my diet...with mixed results. Some days I feel like I am going to the bathroom multiple times more than normal and other days I am on the edge of being constipated. Benefiber seems to work well and not give me any sort of gas, but I really don't...

    Diverticulosis diet tips

I had my third colonoscopy on Friday and they saw diverticulosis. I had no idea you could have IBD and diverticulosis! I am wondering if anyone has tips for adding fiber to my diet that will not aggravate the Crohn’s? My GI did recommend Benefiber (which I have used before, but have been...

Where would Crohn-related pain be located?

I only have had it in the large intestine, so my pain is in the lower right side and behind belly button. Sometimes on the lower left, but rarely. It depends on where the disease is located.

    Anxiety and Entocort

Coffee creamers are often dairy free, I find the liquid ones better than powdered ones. My coffee this morning has vanilla caramel creamer in it. I use CoffeeMate. Pain in shoulders could be due to anxiety. I tend to clench my jaw when I’m stressed which then gives me headaches.

    Contact lenses and dry eye

I wear Acuvue Oasys Dailies and have Blink eye drops to help with dry eye.

    So, I got Crohn's...

I’m ok with one cup of coffee a day, if I work late I drink tea instead which gives me the caffeine boost I need without so much acidity. I would take the meds, discuss any concerns with your doctor. Diets seem to help some, but not all people so be careful when relying on diet alone.

    Glasses

Oh no! I like the daily contacts. I don’t feel so bad if I lose or tear one. My eye Dr. said they are good too because you change them every day so less of a chance for an infection. I have to use eye drops since I get dry eyes too...try not to wear my contacts more than 12hrs in a day.

    Terrified of probable crohns diagnosis

Everyone is different. I can only offer insight based on my own experience. 1. I too HATE doctors and hospitals. Every dr visit I have still gives me a bit of anxiety. What helped me in the beginning was taking someone with me. A friend or family member, even if they didn’t go in to the...

    Fast Transit Time and Hunger

Sometimes a salad will go through me within an hour, even when in remission! I only have the disease in my colon. When in remission I usually go 1-2 times a day, when flaring it goes up a bit to 5-10 times a day. I tend to have issues with apples, spicy and overly greasy foods, milk and ice...

Can't cope waiting for a diagnosis (sorry there is some graphic bits)

I am so sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time right now. The colonoscopy should lead to diagnosis if the disease is in your colon. Until then I would ask your doctor about nutritional shakes. If you are not getting enough nutrients it will be too hard on your body. A food diary...

Social smoker and want to stop

It is different for everyone...when I quit I had to go cold turkey. Having one here and there or tapering off doesn't work for me. I found it helpful to replace the smoking with something else. For example instead of a cigarette I would have a small candy in its place. The habit of it was...

Caffeine: coffee or tea or else?

I can do one cup a day. Green tea seems to be ok for me if I need a boost in the afternoon.

How to treat recurring mouth ulcers

I usually use Anbesol (benzocaine) topically and use Listerine mouthwash to help get rid of them. I find using Listerine daily seems to keep them away...switched to another mouthwash and got a sore within a week! I have also heard rinsing with salt water can help, but I never really tried it.

    Question

How big is the bump behind your ear? I had one that was a pimple but was very sore. It was kind of like in the crease between my ear and head. I put acne medication (salicylic acid) and warm compresses on it to help it come to a head. I hope it isn't a lymph node for you and is just a pimple...

If there was a responsible for your Crohn...

I believe the disease is in you already and then something sets it off. Not that anything in particular can cause the disease per se. For me it was the perfect storm of new promotion at work, stress, exhaustion, poor diet, working too much, etc. I had a lot going on at one time. Even now lots...

How long should you take Entocort

Sounds similar to me! Went to urgent care and the on call gastroenterologist said the same thing to me! Entocort has worked great for me in the past, no issues or side effects! My dr doesn't like to keep me on it for more than a few months. Long term use of steroid drugs is not good. I just...

Crohn's and GERD sufferers Support Group

I have been on them for several years. My dr said preventing the damage in the esophagus is essential and since I don't have any side effects it is fine. I only take it once a day now.

    MRI enterography

I was not sedated, drove myself there and back. I wasn't really able to eat when I had it done so trying to drink all of the contrast was hard, but they recommended I walk around to help the contrast travel through my GI tract faster.

    Salofalk and Pentasa

I agree, I was always told these are maintenance drugs to keep inflammation down. I take Colazal everyday which is in the same family of drugs. I did not feel immediate relief when starting them, I had to be on Entocort at the same time to stop a flare.
