    How many pentasa?

Depending on the dose they usually work very quickly. My first time on 40mg of Prednisone made a difference within a few hours, that quick! What dose are you on?

    Hello all

So happy so seem to have finally found something that works! Long may it stay that way, and about time too. It is also suppposed to work for you joints? If so I hope that kicks in at some point too. I'm failing Remicade atm which is a pity as it does seem to be working for my joints...

    Remicade Club Support Group

Well, I've finally got around to joining this support group but it's looking like I will be leaving it soon! I've had my second 8 week infusion after the loading doses and it doesn't seem to be doing a thing. I think I started in September so it's been at least 6 months now. I also don't have...

    Started Humira Yesterday

Yep, I also had an almost immediate response to Humira, it was wonderful, I could even eat salads! Sadly it lasted about a month and then wore off to the point of needing weekly shots and still having inflammation. Turns out I was metabolising it far too quickly (and probably was developing...

I had an MRI Post-op- question about results!!!

Sorry, have no experience with fistula's or open wound healing myself but hopefully someone on here will come by soon. In the meantime I hope the wound heals soon and he was wrong about the fistula!

    Bloating and cramping remedy

Have you tried peppermint oil? I think it works really well and very quickly. I usually put a drop in a glass of water or tea.

    Remicade vs Humira

Well everyone is different and I had an immediate (good) reaction to Humira, but sadly it didn't last. I'm now on Remicade which hasn't been doing anything much for the last 4 months but the last few weeks have been good so hopefully it's finally starting to work. I much preferred taking Humira...

    Gluten free diet for crohns

I've tried gluten free with suport of a dietician but it made no difference. Well it did for 2 days and then I was back to square one. I'm actually very happy about that as I really didn't need more dietary restrictions and I bake my own sourdough bread which I love and would hate to give up...

    Iron Infusion

Interesting thread! I get Injectafer infusions whenever my HB is low or is trending low, hoping to catch it before it gets bad. he infusions only take 15 minutes and I don't get Benadryl or similar. I think it took longer the first time but now it's just into the infusion centre and out again...

    I wasn't aware

The way I understand is that strictures are narrowing of the bowel, either because of inflammation or from scar tissue from having inflammation for too long, and these strictures can cause an obstruction. So the obstruction is a result of having strictures, for instance when you've eaten...

What's your theory on how you got Crohn's Disease?

That's interesting, never heard that before. I too had constant ear infections as a child and took loads of antibiotics over the years. Who knows, that might have been part of the cause too.

    Anyone with strictures/obstruction might help

Certainly sounds like quakery to me! No links to any scientific studies but plenty to buy one of his ebooks says enough to me. Don't beat yourself up about having the operation! What's done is done and beating yourself up over it won't help you in any way. :thumleft:

About to order a pizza with possible blockage

Yep, that sounds crazy :) I understand where you're coming from having had my share of obstructions over the years but I would advise against it. My last big obstruction was induced by metamucil which I had to take as a contract for a CT enterography and it landed me in hospital for a 5 day...

Adverse reaction to injectafer.. what now?

I have joint pains, mostly in my fingers and toes but didn't notice any difference when I last had an injectafer infusion a few weeks ago.So sorry, can't help you with that one. My ferritin is now back up to 212 and I'm finally getting some air! Can't believe the cost of it over there...

    Will he ever be healthy?

Why don't you try a low fibre diet and see how that goes? While everyone is different, low fibre seems to be common denominator. If you're worried about quackery another option would be to try the FODMAP elimination diet with help from a dietitian. This is based on research by the Monash...

GI Follow-up...will I ever heal? Feeling a bit bummed

Yes I know the feeling, if it isn't one thing it's another! Just keep believing that it will get better, it usually does! And I know how you feel about using the disability sticker, even my GI says he wouldn't have thought there was anything wrong with me until he looked inside.....

Have you been evaluated for Anemia of Chronic Disease?

I voted yes as I have sort of been evaluated, it was mentioned that it's most likely the case. I also had iron deficiency anemia but after an iron infusion my ferritin is now 212 (up from 18) but my iron saturation went down to 16 (minimum for this lab), iron from 14 to 10 (also the minimum)...

    Waiting for Surgery

Yes, didn't get a lot of sleep last night, that's for sure! Worst one I've ever felt and it went on forever. Now having aftershocks every few minutes but luckily the Tsunami didn't eventuate where we are and we have very little damage. The office is closed as it needs to be checked for damage...

    Waiting for Surgery

Yes that was a special game, congratulations! Pred made me an insomniac and generally angry, aggressive and impossible to be around so my dr prescribed Amitriptyline, a very low dose at 10mg, but it really helped with both. Ask your doc if it would be right for you.
