    Food!

Hey Cbonhomme, sorry that you are going through a crappy time. We miss out on a lot because of this nasty disease but don't despair, things will improve and get better. How long ago were you diagnosed? What meds are you taking? I hope you get to feel better real soon. Costas

    Remicade pending

Remicade was great for me for about 8 months or so and I felt fantastic but then it stopped working effectively and so I was moved on to Humira. I hope Remicade works for you and you soon get to feel better.

    Diarrhea after surgery

Would you recommend Psyllium Husks or Questran, DustyKat? From what I understand they both carry out the same function thus assisting in the absorbtion of nutrients. Presumably by bulking up the stools and at the same time absorbing nutrients this would lessen frequent trips to the bathroom...

Lifting weights after open ileocolic resection

No idea how long it takes the intestines to heal. But there were some complications following my surgery due to the amount of bowel removed (80 cm). I was also extremely emaciated having lost just over 20 kg in weight. And then shortly after surgery I had a pulmonary embolism.

Lifting weights after open ileocolic resection

My GI would not even let me drive for 2 months after my surgery. He finally gave me the go ahead to get back in the gym after 6 months but only light work outs. I would ask your doc for sure. Glad things are working out for you. Keep well.

When I started taking Humira about a year ago I would get terrible headaches that lasted for 2-3 days and sometimes felt a little weak and tired. I don't have that anymore though. It may take a few weeks until you start to feel better. If it becomes too bad then call your GI.

Not sure but maybe another fissure

I don't know why the fissure came back but it could have been from using your finger when you were constipated. Fissures are very slow to heal and in my experience re-open regularly. I have just ordered GTN ointment from the UK that someone on this forum suggested I try. It's not available...

    Diarrhea after surgery

I wonder if I should ask my GI to prescribe Questran for me...... I read online that it is very effective and the only side effect is bloating. If it will lessen or better still stop the dreaded D then it may also help my friendly fissure to heal (which incidentally has opened up again with a...

Hi Harry. It's quite normal to have blood tests while taking any of the biologics. My GI insists on me having tests done every 6 weeks or so. Agreed, tha "pain" of the injection is nothing compared to the pain of Crohn's. I hope Humira works for you.

    Diarrhea after surgery

I've been taking Cipro and Flagyl on and off since my surgery last year (also Humira and pro-biotics) and I have not seen any difference in my BM's.

This "thing" has ruined my relationship

That's karma for you ShanBanana. If he did it once he will do it again. Good for you for being so strong. I was dumped twice because of this awful disease and although I would love to have a partner to share my life with, I can't bare to go through the devastation of somebody else leaving me...

I hope they are both doing well DustyKat.

    Diarrhea after surgery

Ditto. Post surgery all my BM's are mostly very loose. I assume its for life since I had 80 cm of large bowel removed. There simply isn't the space to form into solids.

    Weekly Humira

Thanks guys for your replies. The good news is that the abcess has disappeared and the fissure seems to be healing nicely. The diarhoea has decreased as well. I haven't been "approved" yet for the weekly doses by the Ministry of Health but I have 4 Humira injections in my refrigerator. The...

    Humira

I literally just feel a little sting for about 10 seconds and then it's done. It does not compare to the pain you have with Crohn's by a very long shot. You'll be fine helzbelz!
