    Azathioprine and bright urine?

My doctor said that although there's nothing in the literature he's heard about the bright urine thing from a number of his patients. I wonder if it's evidence that your body isn't absorbing it like it should.

How effective is a ct scan for diagnosing ibd?

I was diagnosed after a CT scan. It showed the stricture that the colonoscopy couldn't see.

Need a few words of encouragement, upcoming surgery.

Hang in there. Not long to go, and this time tomorrow you'll be well on the way to recovery. And you'll still have 22 and a half feet of small bowel, which is plenty by any measure.

Does IBD mostly get worse as time progresses?

I like your thinking. I had about 18 years after being told it was just IBS until it did get worse, and then I think that was to do with developing a stricture rather than the disease becoming more active.

    Just had surgery...need help

I was able to get back to more or less normal eating after a week. Different for everyone though. But I remember getting pain like you describe a few weeks later, and that being a little bit of a worry when you're busy telling yourself you're better now. Worth asking, but don't panic. It won't...

    Feel better after a BM?

Very often the case for me.

Need a few words of encouragement, upcoming surgery.

I was so fed up with being ill and frustrated with all the delays I couldn't wait for the surgery and be able to get on with life. The day was like Christmas morning for me.:dusty: So think about the object of the exercise which is to be healthier.

    Azathioprine and bright urine?

Glad I found this because me too. Something to mention to the consultant next week.

    Imuran/Azathioprine/6-MP Support Group

I had TPMT tested ( a couple of times ) and was fine: high or low, I forget which way round it is. It is meant to predict certain bad reactions, but that doesn't necessarily mean you won't get other side effects. Apart from feeling a little light headed after taking them the first couple of...

    Wine and Crohn's?

Everything in moderation. A bit of vin rouge never causes me any problems. I think you need to be sensible and see how you feel.

    The Joy of Crohn's

I enjoyed reading that. Thanks. Hope the surgery goes well.

Crohns, Depression, Anxiety, Addiction- All connected?

That's very interesting. I don't know for 100% but I think the depression I had for years was caused by a B12 deficiency, which of course was caused by my immune system attacking my Ileum. I've been a hell of a lot better since I started getting injections (though it's also true that I had...

    IBD and Male Pattern Baldness?

When I was ill, underweight and anaemic my hair thinned quite a lot and that made the receding hair line a lot more obvious. But since surgery and getting healthy again it came back thicker and that mostly hides it again. Mine's following exactly the same pattern as my Father so it obviously is...

    What to expect with azathioprine?

I felt a bit light headed after taking them the first couple of days. After that nothing's happened, good or bad. 4 months so far.

    Fear of appendicitis!!

I had a night in hospital with suspected appendicitis after lots of vomiting, being feverish and lower right pain. But by the morning I was fine so they let me go. After that they gave me a gastroscopy (but not colonoscopy) and told me it was just IBS with a bit of a shrug and maybe food...

Please help with info, feeling nervous

2 years ago for me amazingly. None of it was bad really. I was able to get out of bed more or less unaided the day after, though having a catheter for the first 24 hours meant I couldn't move far. But by the next day I was able to walk up and down the hall, which is a good thing to do. No NG...

Help gaining weight. How did you do it?

In the 6 weeks before surgery I gained about 7 lbs from having Ensure and Complan every day, plus trying to eat mars bars and cans of coke. Depends what you can stomach of course. The nutritionist I spoke to mostly told me I should eat more fruit which wasn't necessarily great advice. After the...

Inflammation in the Small Intestine only

I had some upper GI symptoms, like belching and feeling bile in my throat a lot and generally feeling sick after eating. The gastroscopy did show some mild gastritis, but it was the stricture in my Ileum that was the real problem. I'd get (sometimes intense) lower right pain. In the end my lower...

Is there a possessive for the word "Crohn's"?

"Crohn's" is a shortened version of "Crohn's Disease" so you can always say "Crohn's Disease's symptoms" or whatever. But when would you use a possessive? You can say cancer symptoms or cancer's symptoms; the first is simply an adjective. So maybe there's no case where you can't simply say...
