Writing is one of my ways of coping with stress... so through the course of a test gauntlet last week and many waiting rooms, I wrote up a post on The Joy of Crohn's, from the perspective of a patient who is just about to the top of the pyramid of Crohn's treatments—I have surgery scheduled next week!

I hope you like it: www . jeffgeerling . com/blog/2016/joy-crohns (can't post link because I've never made a post before!).

I apparently have had an account on this forum for some time, though I'm mostly a lurker. Now that I'm getting a surgery, I feel like Crohn's is finally impacting my life in a major way that I can't just dust under a rug. I will so far avoid a stoma or anything like that (for now... and assuming everything goes to plan!), but surgery is still a pretty major life event.

I'll have a partial resection of the ascending colon and terminal ileum. Sounds like it should be a straightforward-ish operation, and recovery will be at least a few weeks. I'll likely be reading a bunch of other surgery stories here pre-op, and hopefully I read the ones that make me feel better :yfaint:

I wish you the best with your surgery. After the surgery, make sure to walk as much as possible. Take things to the hospital like books or anything else you enjoy . Let us know how you are.
