    Pain meds bad for ibd?

Agree completely. I know they don't like prescribing narcotics, & they carry risks & potential complications. I get that. But as a Crohn's patient, as well as an ostomate, there are days I REALLY wouldn't mind the "constipation" caused by Vicodin or Percocet, & they'd help my pain much more...

    Looking for Advice-Anxiety

Have you thought about talking to your dr about something like Buspar? It's less of an antidepressant & more of an anti-anxiety. I've never taken it, but heard it can be pretty effective against generalized anxiety disorder. From what I understand about the med, it's a daily pill, unlike an...

Getting surgery on fri..... any advice?

Wow that does seem like a rather quick recovery/discharge. When I first had my surgery (also a diverting colostomy) I was very ill, in & out of intensive care & near death from the infection that made the ostomy necessary, so I was in the hospital for quite a while post-surgically. However...

Do you find it hard to express how well you are to your GI?

If you're having a hard time keeping track if all your symptoms during long spans between dr visits, (as im sure we all do, myself included)I recommend looking into an app called GI Monitor. It's free on the Apple App Store (and probably the android market as well) or you can find it & sign up...

    Ummmm....help????

It may not be anything you ate, but something you drank. I've found drinking a little too much kool-aid or sports drinks can dye it green. Even colors you wouldn't expect, like the purple in grape flavor, or blue. Very odd. But that's how my body reacts to the dyes. Did you by chance drink a...

I am beyond mad right now!

Isn't the system wonderful? Doctors take an oath to help people, but isn't it funny how things work out better for them than their patients more often than not? You're absolutely right; he should have someone covering his cases & seeing his patients while he's out if the country (or for any...

    I need some truthful help

If you're truly looking to change your diet, I'd recommend starting by increasing your fiber intake. SLOWLY. Too much too fast can cause more GI issues. But increasing fiber can also help regulate your system, so as you add in fruits & vegetables they might not upset things too much. You might...

    Crohn's diagnosis taken away?

I'm not exactly part of the undiagnosed club, but I went through a similar experience. With the nature of Crohn's, and it being an illness where things aren't always black & white, it seems to be common for changing doctors to cause us issues. I grew up in Michigan & was diagnosed at 7 years...

What colon prep have you used? How did it go?

Agreed! Definitely the easiest of all the preps I've tried. A few Dulcolax before starting & then its basically a couple bottles of Gatorade. The only minor downside is that my doc likes me to steer clear of my favorite Gatorade flavors (grape & the cool blue) because of the coloring. Oh well...
