Do you find it hard to express how well you are to your GI?

Reading,
I've been thinking, I usually have 3months or more between each of my appointments. You have soo many ups and downs in that time, varying in severity. Even if I have pain or blood when I go to the toilet and think, I'll talk to them about that. But its hard to remember how things have been generally over that time.
Its so hard to sum it all up.
You go in and they ask you all their questions, how often are you going to the toilet, how much pain are you getting, where is your pain, how long does it last. Sometimes you forget to tell them anything else that doesn't fit into their questions.
When anyone asks me how I am if I am feeling ok, I kind of forget about the bad times, you just put it behind you.
I'm wondering if I accidently play it down when I'm with the GI if I am feeling ok when I am there.
Just wondered what your thoughts are on this?
I am doing a fecal calprotectin test soon and I'm wondering if it will show active disease or not.

My son is doing the fecal calprotectin now. Well if we ever get a sample!! But, anyway, I think C will be like you are saying when he is out on his own. I'm trying to keep a journal of his days on good days I just jot good if he has an off day I just jot down his complaint, number of bms, you know relevant info. That way I have it all in front of me when we go to the appt. I know it is important to get C started doing this but baby steps for sure, 16 year old boys are inclined toward journal keeping!!LOL

Hope all is going well in the job hunt, hang in there!! I hope calprotectin test comes back good!!

If you're having a hard time keeping track if all your symptoms during long spans between dr visits, (as im sure we all do, myself included)I recommend looking into an app called GI Monitor. It's free on the Apple App Store (and probably the android market as well) or you can find it & sign up online.

You can put in as much or as little info as you want. You can record things you eat that cause problems, you're daily pain level, even track your bowel movements. And there's a section to add notes for anything that doesn't fit into the categories, and a section to save questions/concerns to talk to your dr about.

Hope this helps!
