Need Help with 504 process at school

Mehita - thanks for your list, that's helpful. The school never met with us - they just said "no." We now have a meeting set up with the principal on Tuesday. My ex and I don't agree on a lot of things, but we are united when it comes to our son and we'll both be at the meeting. We will be...

Need Help with 504 process at school

WOW, thank you all! Thank you for the support, the links, the information. My ex told me he finally got a call back from the principal today (after 3 messages .. 4 including mine), and we have a meeting set up on Tuesday. I haven't heard back from the school social worker. Not sure if she's...

Need Help with 504 process at school

Hi Everybody: I posted last spring about several issues my son was having (dx with Crohn's at age 8, he's now 15), and got so many helpful responses. There were several suggestions to put a 504 Plan into place at school to help accommodate his frequent absences, homework, etc. So ... I called...

    Remicade, remission, and Symptomatic?

WOW, thank you all! I'm overwhelmed with the responses, and I appreciate them. After I posted this morning, my son called and said he needed to come home from school. ARGH. I'll respond in more detail later - need to run some errands. But quickly, no he's not on a 504 plan (yet) but I'm...

    Remicade, remission, and Symptomatic?

Hi all -- I haven't posted in quite a while. My son is 14 and was diagnosed with Crohn's when he was 8. He's been on Remicade since diagnosis. It's always been very effective for him - little flares every now and again, but the crohn's has largely been under control. However, this school year...

    Parenting a child with IBD

NMMom: I so "get" the heartbreak when we see our child suffer, and the worry about their social develoment, and the urge to baby them and let them get away with things because they've been through so much. But you have to raise her and discipline her just as you would if she weren't sick. To...

    Please help(abuse related)

What does his counselor say about this? Is the counselor aware? Has your son talked about it with her/him? Have you? You really need to call CPS. If you believe your son, and you've said you do, then you need to get them involved. They need to investigate and you can't assume that they'll...

    Remicade Club Support Group

Twyla's mom -- my son is 13 and he's been on Remicade for 5 1/2 years. There was a time about two years in that the doctor changed him from 8 weeks to 4 weeks because he was flaring and the doc wanted the remicade to get in front of the disease (if that makes sense). He then slowly took him back...

    First infusion terrible reaction help!

Nancy - the first few years my son was getting remicade, they gave him an oral dose of Bendaryl and Tylenol prior to the IV. It made him very sleepy afterward, but he never had a reaction or fever! I'm sorry you've had such a tough time of it, but hopefully these suggestions would help. Good luck!!

    When Remicade No Longer Works?

Tenacity - he's on no other meds, other than a multi-vitamin. He's been getting the maximum dose, I believe, for most of the past year. Right now we're going to do his next infusion in 5 weeks instead of 8. I don't know what LDN is, but I'll look into it. :-) We've discussed diet, but he's a...

    When Remicade No Longer Works?

Greetings All! I'm new to this forum, but not new to Crohn's, unfortunately. My 13y/o son (with 14th b-day coming up!) was diagnosed at age 8 with severe Crohn's. He's been on Remicade since his diagnosis and it's mostly done a good job keeping the Crohn's under control. For almost the past...
