    Remicade rash

Remicade caused my psoriasis - went to a dermatologist who tried me on Stelera in hopes it would help both the Crohns and psoriasis but it didn’t work. Back onto remicade and now take Otezla daily - works really well.

    Rapid Remicade infusion anyone?

Rapid infusions don’t work for me - I had a mild reaction so I’m on 4 hour infusions.

Starting azathioprine -- when do side effects or signs of intolerance typically show up?

Yes there is a blood test for Infliximab anti-bodies. I’ve had it done once - I had no anti-bodies. I’ve been on and off Remicade three times now due to surgeries. Was able to re-start it every time.

Starting azathioprine -- when do side effects or signs of intolerance typically show up?

I’ve been on Methotrexate since 2011. My GI says to keeps me in remission in conjunction with the Remicade. My blood work is perfect and my GI couldn’t be happier.

Starting azathioprine -- when do side effects or signs of intolerance typically show up?

Had to quit Imuran as I developed high fevers daily - 103 degrees or more. GI took me off it.

Really strange experience with first remicade infusion

Bp613 - I’ve had a reaction very similar to yours a couple of years ago. My GI has me on a protocol where: 1) I receive solumedrol and Benadryl before my infusion 2) we wait 30 mins for the steroid and Benadryl to take effect. I have found that I take longer with some medications to take effect...

DocS9788 - I’ve been on Remicade since 2011. Side effect - psoriasis on my palms and butt. However, I’m in remission - my blood tests are “stellar” according to my GI. I’m still having joint pain which the Remicade didn’t touch but we’re dealing with that. Best way to know if the inflammation is...

    Overweight with Crohn's Support Group

I’ve been on biologic since 2010 - on Remicade right now. I cannot lose weight - doesn’t matter if I don’t eat for days. I saw a dietician who figures my metabolism is at a low point and there’s not much I can do at this point to “rev” it up. I don’t think the biologic has caused weight gain but...

    Disability/Unemployment/Financial Difficulties Support Group

I’m glad there is some good news for you. The psychiatrist sounds like a decent guy - it’s hard to find a good counsellor. The hoops the government makes us jump through are amazing.

Thike1966 - so sorry for all you’re going through. I hope it works out for you. Canadian Disability has been easier to get although they don’t give you enough to live on. We’re here for you if you need to vent.

    Remicade Club Support Group

I have been able to avoid surgery since diagnosis. My GI started me on biologics and Humira didn’t put me into remission but it did help a little. Remicade put me into remission.

I didn’t see any significant response for 6 months after the loading dosage. It’s certainly not immediate. However my blood tests began to improve and I’m now in complete remission.

    Overweight with Crohn's Support Group

I wish I knew. Even during my worse flare I only lost 22 pounds. Prednisone doesn’t help and my other meds also contribute to weight gain.

Ron - it’s very possible. I broke both my knee caps - I have arthritis in both of them. Wear and tear my rheumatologist calls it.

Crohns and loosing weight Support Group

Rickytrnr - welcome! You’re right - some people can’t lose weight because they don’t eat enough. I know when I was on a doctor controlled course, I couldn’t eat everything they said I should be eating. It was just way too much food. I guess your body goes into starvation mode and won’t let...

Diagnosed at age 50 & over Support Group

Welcome Lynda Lynda. Yes, at our age the doctors tend to start writing things off to old age. I’m lucky with my 3 main doctors - they know how hard I work to get things done and don’t accept any diagnoses of age. Time and time again they’ve dug into a problem and end up finding that it could be...

    Crohn's and Arthritis Support Group

Thanks Maya142 - I am still on Methotrexate. My GI is adamant that I not take NSAID of any kind. However, my rheumatologist may have other ideas. We will see in about a month. Ice doesn’t help nor does Voltaren. So far the only thing to bring it under some control is the butrans patches. We...

    Crohn's and Arthritis Support Group

I have had enteropathic arthritis (yes, there’s a name for Crohns arthritis) 3 years before I was diagnosed with Crohns and it’s got progressively worse over the years. Remicade has now got me into remission in my gut but the joint pain is still very bad. I’m on opioids through a patch for the...
