Hello everyone,
I’m new here. Was on Remicade for about a year and a half when, in late October, I started to get itchy rashes, first on my scalp, and then the rest of my body. It took me a while to realize it was due to Remicade, since I wasn’t expecting it. My last infusion was late April. It’s been 2.5 months and the rashes don’t seem to be going away. In fact, I’m getting them in new spots even now. I’m miserable. Doctors are treating it like eczema, and dismissing the connection to Remicade. Steroids offer temporary relief and things go back to the way they were if I stop. Dupixent has caused the disgusting oozing to cease. Antibiotics have cleared infections. But, I’m still disfigured by these dark rashes all over my body. I’m hoping someone who’s been through this can give me hope that this will subside and I’m not destined to live with this for the rest of my life

Look into drug-induced psoriasis - also Gutatte Psoriasis.....I had a huge flare up years ago now where pretty much my entire trunk was covered...I had issues with any area on my body that had a 'fold' too.....it took quite a while, but I'm 99% clear now, with the occasional flare up of a spot or two. I try to keep on top of things using steroid cream (sparingly).....I'll have to see if I have any old pictures here of what I looked like.

Mine started after a bout with strep throat.....

Here is an old post with a photo...if you earch Remicade Rash you will find posts...

So crohns patients are at higher risk of other autoimmune diseases showing up .
Some say biologics “unmask” the extra disease
In this case psoriasis.
My kiddo had drug induced rash with remicade on his trunk ,scalp, and face
The dermatologist at the time ignored remicade as a cause
He had two allergic reactions to remicade after 8 months and stopped the drug.
in his case the rashes went away
He started humira abd no rashes or allergic reactions

others I know developed psoriasis while on remicade
The psoriasis got worse when remicade was stopped .
Other biologics that treat crohns and psoriasis helped

my kiddo is currently on Stelara and methotrexate which keeps most of his rashes /crohns at bay

definitely get a dermatologist who knows crohns and crohns drugs.
Gi tends to not be experts on the skin issues

If you have it for life
Definitely use something that treats both
Good luck

Thanks much, this perspective helps 👍🏼

Remicade caused my psoriasis - went to a dermatologist who tried me on Stelera in hopes it would help both the Crohns and psoriasis but it didn’t work. Back onto remicade and now take Otezla daily - works really well.
