    Stelara combined with Remicade?

I saw a publication on pubmed.gov on that issue, I think it was in a dermatology clinic in New York. They had patients on Remicade and Stelara simultaneously, I think.

Back flaring and probably knowing why

Thanks, Ron! :-) I heard or read the same but it all went well for a few weeks, so probably when some extra stress is put on my body, it all breaks down again? Does that make sense, that sugar then is harmful for my gut and otherwise it isn't?

    The Worst Part of Crohns

Most difficult to me is the uncertainty about: Will I tolerate this food? Does it have additives that make me worse? Will I have enough energy to go out with my friends? What will they say when I need to reschedule? How long will they trust me that I would love to but just can't? How will I be...

Back flaring and probably knowing why

As I'm back in a flare-up (Crohn's and arthritis) after being on the best way to remission, I was wondering what was throwing me off the right way: Lately, I added back in biscuits, occasional piece of cake, fruit yogurt (the store bought ones) and probably overdid it with sweet fruit yogurt...

Heavy air pollution causing Crohn's flare?

Thank you both for your responses. Hope it calms down soon for me also.

Best relief for trapped wind and constipation?

2 glasses of hot tap water right in the morning after getting up. Always gets things moving for me, no side effects for me.

    Soft foods

Yogurt, yogurt, yogurt is what I can tolerate best when I don't feel like eating. Add in some quark for protein, super smooth and good bacteria (plain yogurt). If I can, I add dissolvable oats (from oat flour, or just oat flour if you can't find it). For vegetables: Potatoes, potato puree etc...

    Can you eat turnips?

I ate quite a lot of them a while ago (always cooked), don't really fancy them now, but still tolerate them.

    Are pureed greens OK?

Give it a try. I personally can't, especially when pureed, goes through even quicker. I can have steamed mangold, the other "green" vegetable I can have is steamed, cooked etc. courgette and some spinach leafs, oh, and broccoli as well as brussels sprouts (not too many). You will notice over...

Reducing Inflammation through Diet - Is this working?

Lab results are not the direct result of dietary changes, to my mind. Mental well-being, feeling socially integrated, connected with friends and family etc., realising one's aims and so on also changes brain transmitters which then alter body function. Also when you cut out gluten, do you eat...

    Oatmeal

Was recommended to me also, getting along with dissolvable oats (made from oat flour) personally. Can't have normal oats, even the tiny ones as cooked oatmeal. I usually have them with plain yogurt, soak them in it over night, like Swiss Bircher Muesli but just without the fruit and nuts for...

    Ginger and sugar?

I personally can't have ginger, too spicy apparently. Same with fresh turmeric. I end up taking prednisolone, so ginger is off the menu ;-) For sugar, it depends on whether or not I eat it alone or after a meal or along with plain yogurt. When I want to eat something sugary, I eat some yogurt...

Heavy air pollution causing Crohn's flare?

Hi all, have you heard of someone's Crohn's flaring from smog / heavy air pollution (category "very unhealthy", chronically ill, pregnant women, elderly and children advised to stay inside)?

    Steel cut oatmeal

I can only eat the dissolvable ones, no standard "real" oats at all (too hard to digest), so I eat the fake ones that are pressed as oats from oat flour. ;-) Seems to work that way.

    Does IBD cause IBS

I don't have IBS. My gut is super sensitive to fermentable foods but I don't have stress-related gut issues though. In a Crohn's flare low-fodmap (IBS diet) is at least a tiny bit of a help for me. Otherwise I just have to avoid raw food, harder to digest food etc. My dad has IBS but not IBD, so...

    Colostrum again

Oh, really? So many genes? I only know of these NOD-2-things (?). That makes even more sense now that is only helps very few with Crohn's. Thank you, my little penguin. :-)

    Long Term Humira?

I didn't go through all the comments (I'm afraid) but I haven't heard of anyone responding to Humira and just taking it short term to be honest. That also wouldn't make any sense to me if you finally find something that works and keeps you in remission but then you need to stop. Only reason...

Can a fat person have Crohn's Disease?

Crohn's is not a question of body weight. I mean, imagine the stomach being inflamed from Crohn's. The stomach is not for absorption but for processing. Even if some parts of the small intestine are inflamed there is still enough surface to absorb the nutrients and calories. What makes...

    Stomach virus

I was told steroids make a virus worse. My doctors would not allow me to take them, instead moro soup is proven to help with infections (bacteria and virus).

How do you handle a flare?

Medication, meditation, relaxing, dietary alterations, more sleep, seeing friends (at least calling them if no other chance to see them), not thinking too much.
