    Azathioprine T-Cell Lymphoma risk

Thank you so much for your reply and your advice! Yes, we are feeling strongly that we don't want our son on Aza and will ask for MTX instead. He is currently still in a stand-down period because of a live vaccine but as soon as we have the discussion, we will push for MTX. Your reply couldn't...

Yes, my son currently in his second week of EEN. Doctor wants to start Aza while he is still on EEN. I will definitely check out the Philadelphia Team. Thanks so much!

    Azathioprine T-Cell Lymphoma risk

Thanks so much for explaining in detail your son's situation. We are in New Zealand and standard approach still follows a ladder one starting at AZA/6MP or Methotrexate for moderate to severe Crohns. Because we are a small country, many drugs only get funded a lot later than in the US. This...

    Azathioprine T-Cell Lymphoma risk

Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me which hospitals/centres NO longer use Azathioprine because of the risk of Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL)? Our 10 year old son is supposed to start Aza soon but we are concerned about the safety profile, especially when Methomethotrexate is another option...

    EEN & School

Advice please ❤️ Hello Everyone, yesterday our 10 year old son was officially diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. The last three months are a bit of a blur with repeated doctor visits, fistula surgery, then scopes referral and now diagnosis. DS is totally overwhelmed (as are we) though he has...

    What's the story with Flagyl

Hi Everyone, Our 10 year old son has received a 'highly likely' diagnosis of Crohns. He has had a perianal fistula, abcess and fissures on and off over the past 3 months and ended up in emergency surgery. Biopsy results show 'chronic inflammation suggestive of IBD and in keeping with Crohns'...

Waiting for results - your experience

For now we are in the system and apparently just need to sit tight and wait. I have already tried to chase them up, but that's all I got. We will see his normal Doctor tomorrow because he has gotten worse again. Hopefully he can fast track some more info before it escalated into surgery again...

T MLP, thanks so much for always answering 😊 May I ask where in the world you are?

Waiting for results - your experience

Hi MLP, From what I understand they will do these things if any of his tests show abnormalities. There is only one paediatric Gastroenterologist in the whole of the South Island (of New Zealand) which has a population of around 1 milion, so I assume they want to keep the load low? My son's...

    Swollen lymph nodes

Heya from New Zealand, We are still waiting for test results for our 10 year old son's Crohns investigation, though surgeon said it looks like Crohns 😔 He has had surgery to repair damage from perianal lesions around 2 weeks ago but his symptoms are already returning. Apart from a sore bottom...

Waiting for results - your experience

Heya from New Zealand, We are currently waiting for my 10 year old son's results from a mass of tests, including bloods, Stool, Biopsies. It's been a week and a half since he had emergency surgery for perianal fistula. They did an EUA and took biopsies from his rectum. It's been a pretty...

    Waiting for Results

Thank you for your thoughts on this. Yes, I am starting to understand that Crohns comes in many disguises. What an awful journey for the kiddos to go on.

    Waiting for Results

Thank you for the information and sharing your child's story. I suppose Crohns seems such a monster disease, so when I look at my boy I just can't see it. My assumption has also been that it's primarily located in other locations, so his perianal presentation just throws me. I am really happy...

    Waiting for Results

Heya from New Zealand, My 10 year old son has just had fistulotomy to address a superficial fistula and for an examination under anaesthesia. The last 2 months (Summer Holidays in NZ) have been a bit of a roller coaster for him (and us). He first got a perianal abcess, that wasn't visible but...
