    Fatigue

Yogurt and gatorade are my keys to managing fatigue. Yogurt is a good source for calcium and the "good bacteria" that most crohny's are missing out on, plus the live cultures break down the lactose so it's safe for those of us who are lactose intolerant. Gatorade keeps me hydrated and...

    Crohn's symptoms decrease with cold/flu?

I've noticed since my dx that when I have the cold or flu, my stomach seems to be more forgiving than usual. Almost in remission, but not quite. I assume it's because my immune system is preoccupied with the acute symptoms associated with these common invaders. Anybody else notice the same?

Extreme leg pain, related to Prednisone taper?

Dave, I had the same problems while tapering pred. I'd wake up with muscle cramps/spasms and the muscles in my legs always felt extremely tight. Good luck with the taper!

    My face is breaking out.

I've never considered going to a day spa being a guy and all. Maybe if take my girlfriend it won't be so bad. :ylol2:

    I'm afraid to pass gas...

I either head to the nearest bathroom or find a place to isolate myself so I can let it out slow as possible. You never know. Had one accident, that's all I needed.

Heat & Humidity and Crohn's Disease

Yes. Excessive sweating or general discomfort due to heat exposure really gets my stomach out of wack. I have to stay in the office during the hotter days and am not allowed to go outside. It's great, though, it get's me out of field exercises and area beautification!

    My face is breaking out.

I get patches of dry skin mixed with cystic acne. It was a lot worse when I was on prednisone. It tends to clear up on my better days, but in general, I always have it. My doc doesn't know what to do about it (surprise). :yfrown:

    Hey all! :)

Ah, I went to Chapel Hill to get my second opinion! I also frequent the spot on weekends with my buddies . . . there's more to do in college towns than military towns. ;) Hope you're doing better.

    National Guard

It's an auto-disqualifier last I checked. I'm currently going through the medical retirement program for it. I commend you for wanting to join the ranks, but crohn's and UC are unpredictable and the Army needs healthy people to fill sandbags! Talk to a recruiter anyway, he may have a loophole...

    New here; My story.

No, I requested an MMRB to reclass to soft skill MOS but since doing daily PT has been a chore and exacerbates my symptoms, my only option is MEB. Plus, being non-deployable in the 82'nd alone is enough to merit being put out of the service. Let me know what they decide for you!

    New here; My story.

To be quite honest, I don't know yet. I'm going to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill to finish school, but haven't figured out what career field I'm going to choose. A lot of options have closed for me considering I was heading for an active (and very physical) position with the FBI with the experience...

    New here; My story.

First off, hello everyone. I'm glad to have found a community that understands my daily struggles and is supportive as a whole. Most people don't know what Crohn's or UC are, so when I tell them I have special needs and dietary restrictions, I'm usually frowned upon. I'm 21 and currently...
